Vera 3 Firmware Upgrade Offline

Hi,

Is there a way where we can upgrade vera 3 firmware offline? (Via USB or Something)

Please let me know if we can download and install the same without using MIOS Portal.

Why do you have an issue with updating from the MiOS server?

You cant do it directly from USB from the UI5 pages, although this maybe possible from the OpenWRT LuCI firmware pages since there’s a firmware update utility in there (Via PC) Doing this maybe risky, and I don’t know anyone who’s done that, and you may brick your Vera.

In any case, you’ll still need the firmware from the MiOS servers, which can be downloaded from the link below to your PC:

http://download.mios.com/rt3662_betafirmware/rt3662_Luup_ui5-1.5.622-en-mios.squashfs

Once you have the file, there maybe a few other options:

[ul][li]SCP it over, and perhaps find a script to do it to if you log in via SSH…Also risky[/li]
[li]Push it via the recovery utility locally (SMTP server) http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Firmware_Flash_Vera3[/li]
[li]Perhaps put the firmware on your own web-server somewhere[/li][/ul]

get the firmware file strangely mentioned and put it in the dashboard on tab Setup > Firmware in the part that says : URL for Vera custom firmware:

yeah well… you would need the firmware file anyways to be able to upgrade, not ?

Yes but you could do that at an Internet cafe or the office etc, and then put it on USB at the location where the Vera May not have a connection.

indeed… and then run tinyhttp daemon on a local pc and put the file in there and use it in vera firmware page.
