Vera 2 locked up and won't talk

Hi

I tried making a network settings change with Vera 2 and wished I hadn’t.

I have got it into a state where I can’t talk to it.

I then tried a factory reset but found the wiki seemed to be based on Vera 1 and not Vera 2.

Looking at Forum posts i have double clicked the recessed reset button on the opposite end of the case to the power lead. This led to all lights coming on (rather than off).

Vera has partly reset, the networking side of it has, the SSID and security of the wireless has reset. Vera works as a network switch and wireless access point so it’s seeing the internet side of life and I can get net access through the wireless or Ethernet 2. This proves that if she will talk my computer is connected.

I can’t find a local IP that will access her though, the one that cp.mios.com comes up with is already allocated to something else.

Remote access seems to work (loading data in process) but then errors on the popup with the following on it

Data not loading?

  • Setup your network or
  • Upgrade your firmware or
  • Activate remote assistance
  • Request tech support

The Eth1 light is double flashing.

I have internet connectivity through Eth 2 and the Wifi from it

Seems to me that Vera’s network switch etc is OK but the Linux box is not talking to it.

Any ideas welcome, it’s going to get cold here tonight without the heating!

Nick

Have you tried hooking up the network cable to eth 1?

  • Garrett

What is the middle button on Vera??

Clicked that twice and eth 1 light went out as have all bar the power!

Indicates Vera cant get an Internet connection. It takes a while in this condition before you can connect, just because Vera cant boot up properly, it may let you in after a few minutes..

Try connecting directly using 192.168.81.1 (You’ll need to set a static IP on your PC to the same sub net) but in light of the issues you caused on Vera’s network settings  why not try connecting over the wifi first?
SSID should be the name on the bottom of the box.

JOD.

Fixed it!

Human error, bigger writing needed for long sited people!

I had somehow assumed Eth 1 was nearer the power lead, hence I had the internet in the wrong hole

Once it’s set as a switch it doesn’t matter!

Restoring from backup now

Thanks for the quick responses

Nick

Glad your back up and running!

  • Garrett

Me too!

Restore seems to have brought back everything except parts of DataMine, I’ll need to transfer some files manually

The Aeon HEM is showing more information than it did originally which is a bonus, it only displayed watts before and now displays kWH!

Thanks for the help
