One way is to use PLTS to set a timer. There was an example on the PLTS help page. I would also search the Lighting forums. There is really no difference between a Zwave sensor or a wired DSC sensor from a logic perspective.
I would really look at the link I sent previously regarding PLTS. This way you can easily set timers for reset, start, off using various logic. The examples in the document on the first post on that link have a direct example for motion light sensor. It is very easy.
For example, I have a PLTS for a sensor in my garage that turns the lights on for 10 minutes. If the sensor is tripped again after 3 minutes of the countdown, the timer resets the counter back to 10 minutes.
Also, you mentioned in your first post that it is a wired motion sensor, and in your second post it is a wireless sensor. The wireless sensors have 6 second delays.

My mistake. It is wireless. I now have this working with PLTS (very powerful tool). I read the PDF all the way to the end, only understanding half of it, then saw the first example was my exact scenario.
Since it is night time, I figured out I had to toggle the day/night switch manually across reboots.
Any idea on a wireless motion detector (that would work with my DSC or directly with Vera) that would not have a several second delay?
Great to hear you got it working. I was going to send you my config, however looks like you updated your post after you saw the example.
What do you mean by having to manually set the day/night across reboots? If you use the Day/Night plugin, the flag is set automatically and you can set a condition that evaluates its status as part of the light turning on or off.
As for motion sensors, you could just use a normal Zwave motion sensor . I use a Schlage one that is simple and reliable so far. A few of them have light level detectors as well such as the HSM100 (or related). This way, you can have the light turn on when it is low light, not just after sunset.

@ Ramias can you post your setup? I am trying to do the same.
