Use Z-Stick 2 for device inclusion?

Hi. Can I use my Z-Stick S2 for inclusion? ie, go around with my Z-Stick and include the devices. Then plug it into my Vera-Lite and somehow copy the devices added across?

Or is it easier to drag the Vera around?

Thanks

That’s what we used to do in the Vera1 days. With a Vera2 or Vera3/Lite unit you can cutover to using the Z-Stick, instead of the internal Z-Wave chip, but it’s likely that the overall range won’t be as good (esp when you can do Antenna hacks on the built in unit)

In some countries, they have to run with the external Z-Wave Dongle.

Anyhow, Z-Wave has a thing called a Secondary Inclusion Controller, or SIC. With Vera running ZWave firmware 3.2, this functionality isn’t available (it’s present in 2.78, but you lose other stuff running the older firmware). If SIC were available, you could use the Z-Stick as a SIC and wander around with it, since it would “tell” the primary about the stuff you’re adding.

The Z-Stick can be handy as an exclusion or reset tool. Obviously you would want to use the device controller that included your device to also then exclude it later, but when you reset your primary controller before excluding everything or if buying a used device online, it may be easier to use the Z-Stick to exclude and thus reset the device to be ready for inclusion again. I think those of us who still have their Vera1 dumbed down somewhere as a network switch are using the Z-Stick this way, fyi.
