Use a switch as a scene controller?

I have 2 scenes set up and I would like to use a regular zwave light switch to control the scenes.
I personally use UPB at my house, the Vera is at my mothers. Coming from UPB I can set a switch to send a ‘link’ then set any other switch (or any UPB device) to be controlled by that link.
What I want to do is have the zwave switchs “on” function activate one scene. Then use the “off” to activate another.
I don’t see a way to do this in Vera, and I know that there are zwave scene controllers for this, but I was wondering if anyone else has done this yet?

Can’t you make a scene to be activated by a trigger from a device, in your case the switch? You can do this for on and off .

-new scene
-trigger : the device to be used as a trigger and in which state
-LUUP code to activate the other scene

 luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1", "RunScene", {SceneNum = "scenenumber"}, 0)

-and the same for the off-mode.

That should work I think.

You will want to make sure your switch supports the hail function…see here http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=2114.0
Otherwise the scenes won’t run reliably as the controller (Vera) won’t know that the switch was toggled until it polls the device…which can take some time.

Or it’s called the instant status is the following table:
