Unlock your door from anywhere. News or Not?

Lockitron has released a device so you can unlock your phone (if you have a iPhone). This I have now read in a lot of news papers today but is this really a new thing? What do you think?

I like the fact that it helps spreading the word of HA a bit further.

OMG! It looks like someone took a giant sized iphone and glued it to the door. I’m sure they’ll sell millions…

Lockitron provides no new capabilities over the current z-wave enabled locks (such as Schlage, & Kwikset) and Vera.

They only thing it can do that I can’t do with my current z-wave locks is the built-in knock sensor. And perhaps the open door by coming near it. The latter being something I would not want to implement as it’s to much of a security risk in my view.

Nice solution if that’s all you want to be able to do. can’t say it’s esthetically pleasing to my eye.

I’ll stick with my current setup
