understanding Vera Logs

Hello all, I was wondering if someone could read the below log portion and tell me if it saying there is a prob with the network.
many thanks for any help!

Hi alexk,

Well I do see a lot of “NO ROUTE” info here so there might be some z-wave routing issues.
But hard to say without any further info from you.
Do you have any issues with your network or were you just curios what the logs are saying?

Flo

combination of things.

  1. i read the logs as i was trying to sort out a connection issue between ivera and my alarm system and also saw the no route errors which i dont actually understand being a newb.
  2. when i created my zwave network i built a test bed (block of wood with switches and lights on it) and tried 3 of my networks modules there. these modules where then placed as they where in the correct final locations and as such might not have correct routing info (as they are no longer next to each other)
  3. i have one more module ( a plugin duwi dimmer) which i want to place in order to strenghten the network so i need to understand where it is week before i do.
  4. I dont actually see any problems as such in performance but this could be coincidental.
  5. I assume i need to do a network repair from the mios interface which would correct all issues (but i need confirmation by someone who knows if this would create any issues.)

thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,
Usually each node has a defined route how it sends/receives information to/from Vera.
No route simply means that no route has been set or all routes are broken.

Go ahead and do a network heal, that should correct the issue.
Let me know if you need more help later with improving your networks strength…

I was going to chime in with the same thing. I paired all of my switches with the Vera without running a network heal and they all came back with “no route”. I started having some issues with some of the distant switches because they were all trying to communicate directly with the Vera.

Once I ran a network heal, the routes are now populating in the logs and the distant switches are properly routing through thier neighbors.

Hi.

Well did the network repair.

Q1. Are the neighbors in the setting tab of my devices meant to change after a heal? Cause they didnt. In fact this what worries me. The devices which i think are closest to one another seem no to be neighbors in some cases

Log to be attached

hi guys - anyone with some insight on the questions/attached file in my post before?

also in addition to the above could someone tell me if they know the following.

If you set up (connect to your vera etc) a few modules at a central location (i.e. not in the final location) is this ok?

If ok what should one do in order to ensure once they are all installed that the routing tables are correct and the neighbours on the module are correct?

Thanks

This works for plugin and battery type Z-Wave devices … but is not very practical for in the wall switch and plug type devices … or thermostats. But it is do able.

You can move Vera and all of the devices to a new location. You will then just need to do a ZWave heal to get everyone figuring out who and where their ZWave neighbors have moved to ;).

thanks. i will do it this way for my fibaro plugin modules as i find it is easier to program test before hand (i have a test bed)

thanks for the info
