Unable to pair devices to a Vera2

I am currently having trouble adding new devices to my network. Hoping the forum can help. Some details:

[ul][li]I have both a Vera1 and a Vera2. Vera2 is the primary controller[/li]
[li]I am using the Vera2 connected to the battery pack to include devices[/li]
[li]After pressing the z-wave button on the back, it starts blinking indicating Vera is in include mode[/li]
[li]I press the button on the device to be added, but do not get the quick flutter of the z-wave light on Vera[/li]
[li]After 60 seconds or so, the light does flutter then the light stops blinking[/li]
[li]After reconnecting Vera and clicking through the add device wizard, it tells me I have not added any new devices[/li]
[li]Have attempted to add three different devices to the network[/li]
[li] A newly installed GE Dimmer switch[/li]
[li] A internatic plug-in that was previously part of the network, I was able to remove it using the Vera2, but now cannot add it back[/li]
[li] A new GE outdoor module[/li][/ul]

As I started with Vera1, I have never actually used Vera2 to add devices, now that Vera1 is not the primary, I can no longer use it to include new devices.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have same problem, Vera2 do not reconize any unit i have. I try
Everspring ST814 Temerature controller
Qees Keyring
Qees powerswitch
Nothing happend
I have a little idea that Vera2 is an american model(other frequens) but dont no. Any way to find out.

@telecpu,

Welcome!

If you have SSH access, you can do the following:

cat /etc/cmh/zwave_locale

If the file shows ‘us’, it’s set for the U.S., if ‘eu’ it’s Europe.

Contact MCV Support to change this, if it is incorrect.

Find Kitty to get in: But then username i think its “root” but password how do i find that.?

Kim

The password is the WIFI password on the label on the bottom of the Vera.

I am in the US, so was thinking the locale is probably correct. That seems to be more of an issue with Vera’s being sent to Europe configured for the US. My root password (WIFI on the Vera) does not seem to be working. Not sure if it is possible for MCV to reset this.

I find that my Vera2 is an EU model with firmware 1.1.1245.
I am lost because i never an Vera before. Even if i go in batterymode and then use button behind no result seems not to have any responce of Zwave request from units

Have the units you are trying to include been part of another network? If so, you need to exclude them first using Vera (even if they were not originally included with Vera). Once they are excluded, then you should be able to include them.

Two of the three devices I was trying to add were out of the box brand new, so had not been part of any network. I also tried excluding a device that was part of my network, and was able to do that with the Vera2, but was then not able to add it back.

Like @shady will propose soon ;), would it be possible for you to try to include a device through the GUI, and keep an eye on the status window to see if anything abnormal is being reported? (You’d need the device fairly close to Vera, and could use full-power inclusion.)

Also, what Vera firmware (1.1.1245?) and Z-Wave firmware (2.78 or 3.20) are you on?

Try including devices through the GUI, somehwere near Vera using full power inclusion. Then you can watch the messages in the upper right corner to see if it is including correctly (1 Device found etc.). It is a good idea to always exclude before including (even on new devices just to rule it out as a problem). oTi beat me to it

If you have the dongle from Vera1 you can use that to go around and exclude/reset devices very easily (a great tool to have just for that). Hold the button until the LED flashes quickly and then hit the device button and watch the LED flicker to verify exclusion.

I have 3.20 Zwave firmware.
How can i exclude without devices.
I feel a little bit stupid here. Do there exist a manual for non exspected situations. If all go after the book then ok, but if ??
As i can read here i am not the only one with problems, so maybee its a firmware problem in Vera2.

I just try some new situation. Use button behind the box. And in server log window it says failed to go in learn mode ???. Do it help the experts

Do you see the following or something else in [tt]Z-Wave device > Options[/tt]

[tt]Version 3.20 L:1
House/Node
Role Master SIS:NO PRI:YES
[/tt]

The device does not need to be part of your network to exclude it. Using the device wizard, on the Add/Remove device window, click on the :“remove one” button if the device is close to Vera. If the device is not near Vera, you can try full power mode. At the bottom of the window, select exclude instead of include and select full power mode.

Isn’t “Failed to go into learn mode” a known bug that’s been addressed?

Also, when I was having that issue with 1245, switching to zwave 2.78 allowed me to add devices.

I found this screen with
Version 3.20 L:1
House/Node
Role Master SIS:NO PRI:YES
My say
Version 3.20 L:1
House/Node
Role Suc SIS:YES PRI:NO
I still get this
Heal Stage:
Heal failed
Add/Remove:
ZWave network failed to go into learn mode. Aborting… Wait 1 minute and try again. ???

That’s not good.

Try running the ‘Hack to convert 2.78 to 3.20’ ([tt]Zwave device > Advanced[/tt]).

If that doesn’t change anything, I’d contact MCV Support.

Hello oTi@ / Shady / All,

I changed to z-wave 3.20 and can now add devices.

Thanks everyone for the help.
