I’ve just reverted back to the previous version, looking back at the first post in this thread “not brave”.
I’ll wait until there are no bugs, oh wait a minute, that seems to be normal for this software… isn’t sarcasm wonderful.
Smeghead, the notifications are still there in my vera but i disabled them to sent to my email so i dont get lots of email from my vera.
But how did you go to the previous version, because that version was also better for me, can you tell me how you did that?
I would also like to know the proper path for reverting. Thanks to this mess my system is pooched. I did a factory reset and restored my backup I made prior to the firmware upgrade and it still says the latest firmware version. It also doesn’t restore quite right. It isn’t listed under my controllers anymore and it didn’t pickup the static IP I had set. Who knows what else is jacked up.
Just curious. Could the source of some of these upgrade issues be incompatibility with apps?
I have had NO issues with my last two upgrades. I have three apps installed. Concord alarm panel, Imperihome and house mode app.
Previously I had Pleg, Multiswitch and a Sercomm camera app along with the ones I have now. With those apps installed, I had horrible results when upgrading. Nothing went as planned and it would take hours of work to make things work. Out of frustration I deleted the camera app, Pleg and multiswitch. All subsequent upgrades (two) have taken place without a problem.
Could app compatibility be the cause of some of the issues people experience? If so, isn’t this a relatively easy issue to resolve before the release of a firmware upgrade? It would seem some of the more popular apps would be fairly easy to tweak/check before a firmware release.
No doubt apps antagonize the system but without apps the system is basic a best. Certain zwave devices work better than others as well but limiting ones self to three perfect devices is less than ideal as well.
I have done several updates since moving to UI7. This is the first that has given me ANY trouble. This is clearly related to the “drastic” zwave changes that are clearly not ready for primetime.
I guess I need to find the 7.0.9 url. It’s not listed in the url thread. I’ll call mios on Monday I guess. I have mine running enough now even though a couple of devices keep “not responding”.
Upgraded my Vera Lite (no problems) and Vera 3. My Vera 3 upgraded fine, but it now seems to be having trouble with the DSC alarm plugin. Vera doesn’t seem able to talk to the alarm anymore. I see messages about it on a blue status bar that appears regularly. Anyone else with the DSC plugin having trouble? I might also be having trouble with the smartswitch plugin … not sure yet.

I would not be so sure. I think it depends a lot on whether you have devices impacted by the upgrade. This particular upgrade changes a lot on the zwave communication to battery operated sensors. I have over 20 of them and some more complex than others. I don’t think it has anything to do with plug-ins. After 20 hours my system was still losing communication with devices which it should have and I have confirmed already reconfigured for some. The entire zwave network was very unresponsive. I do not know if it would have fixed itself if I had waited longer but the real problem is… What is the benefit? My sensors were all working fine. Why do I need to go through days of healing the system for no gain? I am sure I would have benefited from some of the other fixes but the change in zwave firmware version made the entire system useless…
I have 60+ devices. Many of them are wireless and associated with the security panel (not zwave). I only have TWO zwave devices. Both motion sensors. hmmmm…
That’s some of your difference right there. I currently have 19 zwave switches/outlets/thermostats. Only 2 of the zwave devices are not working properly while 17 remain fully functional. If you had more zwave devices, I suspect you would have the same issue.
I restored backups several times and after about 10 minutes the same two devices stopped responding. Interestingly enough, they still work when sent a command. I’m guessing something in the path calculation is agitated by something regarding these two devices. I’m going to give support a chance to look at the system prior to rolling back. Hopefully they can learn from my problem and add it to the solution.
My UI7 Vera3 is almost solely setup with battery operated sensors. Mostly MonoPrice PIR, Schlage & Monoprice door/window sensors and First Alert ZCOMBO units. All my switches, thermostat and locks are still on my UI5 Vera3. As that is working fine, I’m leaving them there for now. I only have 2 mains powered zwave devices on the Ui7. Mainly used as repeaters to create a more stable mesh for some of the furthest sensors.
I upgraded to 7.10 as it stated to fix the non untrip issues for my sensors. Which it did wonderfully. So far I’ve had no issues with devices not being able to stay connected. Which I used to have before 7.10 with my PIR sensor in the garage. That one has not shown any of that behavior since 7.10.
Am I ready to move my locks, tstat and other devices over? Hell no! If it ain’t broke, I don’t fix it. I have both Vera’s communicating via HTTP calls so for now I am good.
Well I just rolled back to the July Update… After two days and two 24 hours cycles I lost most of my devices I logged in this morning to have 34 devices no longer connected… Plus the ones that were left claimed to work but the lights did not go on or off… The worst part was the door locks were no longer connected… I had little to no issues with the July update… It seems from reading the notes that the Zwave chip Upgrade is what I would call a Major Change and the bugs are not worked out yet… I think iil wait a few months before trying this again…
I did the update to the new 1320 version without researching the threads and ended up suffering with continuous “Configurating Z-Wave Devices in your system” messages and an email from wunderground “Your wunderground API key (XXXXX) exceeded its allotted usage today by making 501 calls in a day but the limit is 500.” many thanxs for the 1249 version links, I’m back to working again. Mike

So when we read all this, there are more people having heavy issues with the update rather than guys without.
After six years with Vera I’m still wondering how MCV can release obviously untested software to their users after all these great chances for learning… ???
