Hello, does any one has successfully used this with Vera UI7?
Yes I have. I am running Vera Edge with the latest UI7. I added the controller first to Vera following the instructions that came with the GE wireless controller. After adding it successfully, I then ignored Vera completely and continued with the instructions with the wireless controller. I walked over to a switch that I wanted to control, and I held 2 buttons down on the GE device (forgot which 2 at the moment, but its clearly written on the directions) and then simply hit the light switch on. When I turned the light switch on, the GE wireless controller blinked green twice. I can control that light without an issue or delay now from the wireless controller. I hope this helps!
Do you still have full control of each device through Vera? It sounds like you’re only using the keypad for direct control of devices. Have you tried using it to control any scenes through Vera?
The controller works very nicely actually. You add it to your zwave network. All controllers have control over any device is ncluding the vera. This GE controller is typically used in direct association so it does not need to go through the primary (would be the Vera) to work. One caviat is that it can only control devices under device id #32… Anything beyond will not work.
this advice worked great. tyvm! 8)
Hello,
I must be doing something wrong.
I have included the device in vera…it shows up, and asks me if I want to assign scenes to the buttons.
I’ve tried that but nothing happens.
I’ve tried adding a dimmer using hold down add and remove, hit add, then group, then up arrow. Orange LED blinks.
Click on dimmer…Nothing happens.
So could one of you walk me through the exact steps needed to get this to work?
I have spent hours of frustration on this…
Thanks!

hi Paul.
I think you need to follow the advice quoted a couple replies above: once you’ve added the scene controller to you vera network, close the UI7 window and walk away (hehe). seriously, once you’ve added the scene controller as a secondary controller, try following the directions that come with the CONTROLLER (not vera/ui7) about adding devices and creating scenes.
note that the devices should already be a part of your vera network. you’re not really creating a new network. you’re just programing the scene control by using its own buttons rather than trying to do it through the UI7 interface.
One additional thing, if you’re just looking to turn On/Off a Device (ex. Light Switch/Outlet) make sure to add them to the GE 45631 via the “Adding a device to a Group” method. Adding the Device to a Group will give you instant On/Off, whereas if you add that same device via the Scene method on the 45631 you’ll see a 5sec+ delay when turning it on. Turning it Off will still be instant.
Adding Device to a Group on GE 45631: (no delay for On/Off)
- Press and hold Add & Remove at the same time until the Orange LED blinks twice, then release
- Press and release the Add Button
- Press and release the Group Button
- Press and release the right side (ON) of the Button 1 to 4 that you wish to assign the device to. The Orange LED will start blinking slowly.
- Press and release the button on the associated Z-wave device that you wish to add.
- The Orange LED will stop blinking and the Green LED will blink twice to show that you have successfully Added the device to a Group.
Once you have completed these steps, you should now be able to instantly activate the associated device w/ the ON button.
Note: Again make sure that the associated device you’re trying to control is below Node ID 32. I have not run into this issue myself, but it seems to be pretty common with users who have large Z-wave Networks.
Ol? , Algu?m poderia fazer um v?deo e colocar no youtube ? N?o consigo instalar o controlador GE 45631! Sou novato nesse ramo e estou tendo muita dificuldade. Preciso tamb?m escolher algum aparelho que liga ventilador e a luz… algu?m?

Hello, Could someone make a video and put on youtube? I can not install the GE 45631 controller! I’m new in this business and I’m having a lot of difficulty. Must also choose a device that connects fan and light … anyone?
HI I am also having the same issue with the contoller 45631 with veraplus and WD500Z linear dimmer. I can control the dimmers from vera no issues, but haven’t been able to trigger scene through vera. And also haven’t been able to add the device to either group or scene per instructions. I press ADD + REMOVE then ADD then GROUP with up arrow on one of the buttons then pressed the dimmer to turn it on, tried turning off both attempts do not work (the orange flash light disappears in few seconds with no green light).
I’ve spent days on this and still no luck, I am now thinking that I’ve wasted my $90 to buy this crap. Any help will be greatly appreciated please!
I’m having exactly the same problem. I’ve successfully added the controller to Vera but have not been able to add any switch / dimmer or outlet to a controller group.
I have been having long working sessions with Vera Support to investigate this issue. According to them (after spending hours with no clue as to what’s happening), the JASCO45631 is an old device and is not compatible with UI7/ Vera Plus. They observed that nothing is happening on Vera’s side upon adding the controller to Vera, it should actually transfer network data over to the secondary controller.
During one of the few calls I had with them, they said UI7 doesn’t like secondary controller and I should add the 45631 as regular ZWave Device, which also didn’t help.
They said in the last call that I should check the compatibility list on getvera.com/compatibility and buy the controller only from that list, rest is not guaranteed to work.
Also, I was able to successfully add/ use the 45631 as secondary controller on another network which is based on Vera 3, it works like a charm! Its too bad that Vera is not keeping the downward compatibility in their so-called new controllers.
