Trouble Configuring Yale Lock

last resort, would be doing a full reset on the lock (see manual), exclude then full inclusion.

Did that already 4 times. I called their support and they told me that I have to leave the Vera next to the lock within 3 feet for at least 5 min. Tried that and also 10 min but didn’t work either.

Next step is to exchange the z-wave modules between the locks and try again. If that shows that the z-wave module is faulty, Yale will send me a new one.

I’m new here, and new to Vera/Z-Wave. I have two Yale Real Living lever locks, the one on the front door seems fine, but the one in the kitchen displays a red light and this message (see link for picture) “Failed at: Getting the version”. Any idea how to get this fixed? As I said I am very green when it comes to Vera and Z-Wave.

Try excluding and re-including withing 3 ft.

Also, i had the same problem and just resolved itself after a few heals. I could lock/unlock it fine, it just wouldn’t configure the first few days.

I think the Z-Wave network needs to be idle for it to succeed.

John, thanks for the advice. I can lock and unlock it fine, but it won’t let me make any changes to device settings. I will give that a try and see how I make out.

Update and history:

Received 2 locks, first lock paired with Vera and worked fine immediately including all functions like PIN setting, etc.
Second lock didn’t want to pair at all and after 9 pairing attempts and even swapping the z-wave modules between the working lock and the non-z-wave working lock, it did not change.

After talking with the support people from Yale and them telling me to leave Vera for 5 min next to the Yale lock (within 3 feet) after the rapid flashing light and the lock telling me verbally “complete”, the damn lock still didn’t want to properly join my z-wave network.

Yale is shipping me a replacement lock which should arrive end of this week.

Good to know I am not the only one!

I got Yale Real Living key free lock, love it. looks very nice on my door.

I add it to my vera by taking the vera to the door, hard wire for power and internet.

Full power inclusion - works fine. I leave it there for few hours, the lock works fine.

I move it to my room - It works for couple of hours and then I start getting lots of error messages (“unable to get any information on node” is the most common one but many other as well).

My vera is less than 20 feet away from the lock, straight line with no walls between them.

I got devices double and triple that distance that communicate perfectly every time with almost instant reaction to vera.

I’ve been with Vera support, but they got it working and left it at that, 15 minutes later - the same story, lock does not work.

This is useless, very unreliable.

Any suggestions for my next steps? Yale support? Call my vendor? Request a return, exchange, or should I got with a different brand of lock?

I need something 99% reliable, or close to it. This one is under 20% reliable so far, I can’t live with that.

Any input or help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

moving devices can cause errors due to incorrect neighbor info, try to do a full heal at night, or consider excluding and re-including the lock at the new location

Here is how I got my Yale locks properly working… They work like a charm now.

I tried excluding & including my Lockwood (Aussie Yale) with no luck, (failed at getting secure classes, secure keys wouldn’t exchange) until I picked INCLUDE on the Vera, (full power), and EXCLUDE on the lock. Once I’d done it backwards once, then I did a full power exclude, and include as normal, and it finally paired.

Might be a coincidence, but who knows? Might be worth a shot for someone else.
