I’ve got a lot of Insteon scenes in my all-Insteon system - is there any way to trigger them from my Vera?

Can you be more specific? How are you controlling your insteon devices? Are you using some sort of insteon controller like ISY, Insteon Hub, etc?

Are you using Altsteon?

If the answer is yes, then this post is relevant…if not, then it isn’t.

If you want to trigger scenes from an Insteon device, there is a way to send a command from the PLM to a device to trigger that specific devices “All Link” command. I do not think this is currently implemented in Altsteon.

You can create scenes with the PLM as the controller, from the altsteon CLI and/or Vera GUI.

Hi all - sorry for the lack of information! Here is my setup.

I have a full Insteon network. I have a few 8-button wall scene controllers, as well as a few 6 button table-top controllers. My scene’s are pure Insteon scenes with each device set as a responder to the various controllers (I prefer it this way because the scenes change instantly).

Incidentally, I set this all up using the PC HouseLinc software, but the HouseLinc does not control the scenes (I can unplug it and they still work).

I bought a VeraLite so I could have a good mobile interface to turn things on and off from my phone. I am NOT using Altsteon (tried it and had too many problems). What I want to do is somehow activate my various scenes using the VertaLite.

I do not want to set up the scenes themselves in the Vera. I went down this path and the way the Vera did one light at a time felt too much of a throwback to me.

The only way I can currently see to activate the Insteon scenes is with a device that can receive X10 commands and trigger Insteon devices with it - so the Vera could send X10 and this device would translate to Insteon - this is both pricey, and seems backwards.

Is there any other way, or do I need to sell the Vera and get a SmartHome device (they all have bad reviews :frowning:

I use an ISY controller to integrate with Vera. I think your options are limited without some sort of insteon controller.

Sorry, I completely forgot about the title of your post “…without Altsteon”
I agree with Garrett, you’d need something to bridge the gap.
Garrett developed a plugin to bridge a Vera to an ISY, which is a very capable controllers.
