It works for a little while, then won’t resync with my unit. I am looking for something more reliable than having to use the web browser on my phone.
Any suggestions…

Wow. Worst first post ever.
My experience with Authomation is that it is very reliable and that the Vera experience would be sorely lacking without it. You will find that echoed by many here. My suggestion would be to try to resolve whatever problem exists with your setup.
Welcome!
There is a subforum especially for authomation, which is where your thread should have been posted. There are loads of information if you have any issues, maybe this already helps you: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/board,34.0.html
I can confirm that for me authomation is very very very reliable!
And as always, you need to provide information if you want help. Which vera on which firmware are you using? On which device are you running which version of authomation? Which connection (local, remote, wlan, mobile…) are you using? What exactly are the errors you are experiencing? What did you already try to resolve the problem? And so on…

Rs5,
Welcome to the forum and the world of Vera.
Albeit your experience so far does not seem positive, the forum members are normally help where we can.
I myself have only recent acquired an Andriod device and used AutHomation first time. I found it very stable and the work by @Garrett in its continued support and development is really commendable. Garrett is the most activity member of the forum and always willing to assist. So as @chixxi states some more information may assist solve the current issues you have experienced.
Chixxi hit the nail on the head. Providing more details of the issue would help myself and others help you with your problem. Answering what Chixxi mentioned in his thread would help for starters. Also answering if auto refresh or background polling is enabled in the app settings under connection settings would also help. Posting stating that the app does not stay in sync and not listing any other details is like me telling the doctor that I am in pain with out telling him/her where the pain is.
I wound up trying Home Buddy and have had no issues since…I’m quite the beginner, but after having to uninstall and reinstall it various times, there was no need to keep trying. I don’t feel something should be made for the masses and be that difficult.
Not that I’ll be using it again…it would not sync and JSON errors kept popping up.
Good for you, there are lots of forum members who use and like HomeBuddy, so you should be able to get support for it (on the HomeBuddy subforum here).
Amusingly, I’ve had almost the opposite experience with Android apps. HomeBuddy gets a JSON parsing error, and AutHomation HD has run flawlessly. My theory is that it’s something to do with the devices and scenes that you have on your Vera. If you start naming things using characters that are unsafe in JSON such as / " \ or Unicode characters above U+7F then Vera starts producing nonconforming JSON.
If you do feel more community-minded at some point in the future and want to help Garrett fix the bug you found, I’m sure he’d be only too happy to work with you.
As futzle stated, it is most likely an issue with your Vera. Since you never described your settings or how you were connecting, there is no way for me or anyone else to help you. The json errors you might been having could be related to a few issues. If you were connecting through the mios servers, it could be related to connection issues and this is most likely an issue on their end. It could also be related to json parsing issues which is more or less some sort of malformed data in the json data.
Since you decided to stick with HomeBuddy and not seek any assistance or provide needed information, I will not take any action to solve this issue.
JSON errors… If you use special characters in your device names, Vera may end up spitting out invalid JSON due to a bug. Some apps (or more properly: the JSON libraries used by those apps) cope with invalid characters better than others. Perhaps that is the case here?
I recently acquired an Android device and installed Authomation, and since its home is the living room couch, Authomation sees regular use. So far with zero issues ![]()
