I installed the Trane TZEMT400BB32MAA at my vacation home and linked it with a Vera 2. It was all working beautifully. I left the thermostat set to Off and left.
Then after being away for a few days I logged in to the Vera (MiOS) over the web and pulled up the Dashboard. The Thermostat device was indicating it was in Heat mode and was showing “Unable to get any information on node”. Any command I try to send results in a delivery failure error.
I am back at the vacation home and every thing appears OK. I found the thermostat was not in Heat mode, was still Off as I had left it. The problem seen through Vera remains. I tried resetting the Vera but it didn’t solve the problem.
Any suggestions on how the Thermostat got in to this state, and how to get it out?
I called Schlage customer support but other than checking to ensure the thermostat was included on the z-wave network they couldn’t help further since they don’t support Vera installations.
So, I resorted to tearing down all of the thermostat related themes, removing the device from my dashboard and excluding it from the network, and then reinstalled it all.
It’s working fine now, but my faith in the system is low. It will need to work perfectly for the next 2 months before I can trust it going into the deep winter.
I understand your feelings completely from experience with my HSM-100’s, the good news is I am remote from my system often too and my schlage/trane has been solid as a rock (it’s hard to stop a Trane, lol), hopefully you just had a hiccup there, glad your up and running, Cheers!
Regarding trouble with a Trane thermostat and Schlagelink vs Vera…
I had a similar issue, when moving my Trane thermostat from the SchlageLink to MCV/Vera.
One thing I could recommend is ensure that it’s REMOVED well from the Schlagelink system if you still have that running. (I run both ongoing). Once I yanked the Trane from the Schlage, reset it back to basics, then included it into Vera, it has worked fine on Vera without further issues.
Bear in mind that with ZWave, the peer devices can also affect it (i.e. anything powered like a light or outlet). Even if the thermostat is working great, if you mess around with outlets or switches, that can mess up your thermostat or HSM-100s. They rely on their neighbors for relaying some of their messages, and if you stir up the neighbors, you can have issues with your domestic tranquility.
HSM-100s (3-in-1 multifunction device from HomeSeer) are especially prone to this because they are battery powered, and don’t relay their own messages. So you can get really weird results by installing or removing wired devices near them. I love the HSMs but I also have to reset them periodically, when I stir up the neighbors.
All this to say… once your vacation home’s layout is set and the locks, thermostats, sensors and switches are all stationery, you will have fewer moving parts to mess up your remote viewing tranquility.
Have you been altering other wired things in the house too? That can have an effect.
Best wishes,
