I just ordered my second Play device, next to a play 3 I have also a play5. Also the sonos plugin is installed.
When I loggon my router I see 2 sonos devices, I expect ,tomorrow when I unpack the Play 5 it will be 3 devices.
Now I have SonosZB and SonosZP , I expect the ZB is the bridge and ZP is the player 3.
Do I do anything with the bridge in my vera setup?
How do I synchronize sound with the sonos plugin, the idea is to play a sound or TTS for different scenes:
NOT At Home:
Doorbel: barking dogs or similar volume 100% on all speakers
The Bridge device just needs to be in the Sonos Network, and connected to your home network. It’s sole purpose is to provide the Network connectivity (the bridge) between your Home Net and the Sonos Wireless net so that the other Sonos [Audio] devices can get access to Internet content (as well as the stuf on a home media server)
Any Sonos device that’s also connected (wired) to the Home network will also act as a bridge.
In my case, I dont have a ZB, for example, but my Sonos Connect AMP is performing that function since I always leave it powered up. I also have a Sonos Connect, but it’ powered down when I’m away from the house… in effect it provides a redundant bridge to the Sonos network.
Yup, the bridge device is just a bridge (Home Network <-> Wireless). It’s involvement in the network is to let the [purely wireless] Sonos units look like they’re on your home network (a network bridge).
We don’t need to be configured to even know about the bridge, just the individual Sonos units.
