Hello,
My browser gets allways stucked on the initial page.
“Please wait for data to load”
I can’t get out of this. I’ve reseted the vera and allways the same. I’m using the Version: 1.0.899
I’ve tryed IExplorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
After updating to .899, did you also refresh your primary browser by pressing CTRL-F5 (in Windows) to let Vera’s Javascript renew itself? Just curious.
I’ve reset the browsers. Didn’t worked.
After a long time I have this error: Communication error while retrieving local database.
Note, that with the previous version 1.0.616 it worked fine.
I’m now getting this too.
Unplugging vera, and restarting does NOT help. Dead in the water.
This is indicative of the memory leak I mentioned in my earlier post. I had same issue and MCV said it was related to a memory leak and that Vera memory was full. You might want to try unplugging and replugging in to clear unused memory.
Thanks for the reply Chimpware.
I’ve tried unplugging and replugging, and no success. Will not come back up.
Another update. Now I can’t even get to the initial screen. Nothing. Very frustrated.
Drewrox, how is your PC connected to Vera? Would you mind sharing the basic topology of your home network? (i.e. PC > wired hub > in-wall wiring > Vera’s LAN port 2 > Vera’s WAN port to router LAN port > router WAN port to cable modem, to name one possible example)
I’m wondering if Vera’s bridging/firewall might also be acting up with wrong settings.
Can you (a) say whether the power light is on solid, double blinking, or single blinking, and (b) give us your serial # so I can check the server to see if it’s reporting as alive.
My vera is also stuck on initial page with “Communication error while retrieving local database”. This happened immediatly after upgrading from 1.0.616 wich worked fine to
1.0.918. I have tried reloading 918 with a reset to factory default and get the same error. I tried reloading the browser (ctrl F5), i tried a new PC that never talked to vera before. I am directly connected to vera. Vera’s internet functionality is working OK. I placed a ticket with MCV two days agos (I did the upgrade after MCV support asked me to do so in order to get my camera pan/tilt working). Now I’m dead in the water and do not know what to try next. (hard reset, reload of 616 ?) Vera is next to me now but I planned to install it in a location that’s 500 miles away to monitor the construuction of a rental cottage next week, so it made sense to make the plunge to luup now. Bad idea…???
If you are trying to log into vera directly over your LAN (using local address like 192.168.81.1) you might want to try logging in using findvera.com service and see if that works.
I was stuck on the first page for a long time. Tech support finally came back with the email I’ve included below. I would be a little surprised if it’s the same issue since this was fixed a month ago. Of note, it only occurred with IE. I would be more suspecious if you try safari and it works

Hi Sean,
I’ve fixed the issue. It was an extra “,” in constants.js which caused IE to not validate the json data from it, but other browser will load it fine, sometimes event IE will load it
Thanks, I just tried Chrome and got the same error. My findvera does not work anymore
since I did and install and reset (at some point) in an attempt to get unstuck.

Communication error while retrieving local database.
I am having the same problem. Vera frozen on start page and will not finish loading local data. Power light is now non-blinking/solid. Tried soft reset and power cycling the box. Nothing helps. Using the .918 firmware.
I loaded 1.0.899 instead 0f .918 and that solved my problem. You need to install the generic ip camera luup in order to get the camera back.
I just did a build which should fix this, assuming the cause of your problem is the same as what we identified. We’re doing the full set of tests now and should release it soon. The link is: http://download.controlmyhouse.net/betafirmware/ftp/wl500gP_Luup-1.0.937.trx if you want to try it out
I loaded Luup-1.0.937 and received the same “Communication error while retrieving local database”
as in Luup .918. I have a really small set up trendnet ip cam, an intermatic light dimmer and switch.
Only different setting is the Static IP addresses (for DHCP) so i can easely find the cam
(since vera cannot pan tilt it).I have now returned to the reliable .616
I’ve been running .939 Luup for a few weeks now. Last night I was changing a few lights on and off. Vera was slow to respond, so I rebooted the router. After it rebooted I am now receiving “Communication error while retrieving local database.” I can’t access anything on the router. I have double clicked the black button and reset the router to defaults but I still get the same error. When i try to click anything it says “please wait for data to load”.
Vera is dead. I have 6 hours to fix this before the fiancee gets home or Vera might find itself in the trash bin this time.
have u tried plugging straight into one of vera’s router ports to you computer and unplugging vera from the net? Might be able to access it that way to at least see what the problem is
