Since I tried to screw with that garbage called UI 5 my Z-Wave world has been a mess. For the most part lights still turn on and off when I want them to but not much else works properly.
Might it help to bring my Vera back to a clean slate and start over again? How would I go about doing this?
Given the fact that it was a holiday this past weekend and New Years is coming up. I can bet that many people are away or busy. But to answer your question. Is this on a Vera 2? How did you upgrade? What zwave firmware are you running on and what version of UI5 are you on?
For the record:
Vera 2, I used the upgrade link that was posted on facebook, z-wave firmware 3.2 and I’m no longer on UI5. I switched back to UI4 about thirty minutes after the upgrade. Too much didn’t work. I used the instructions you posted on how to downgrade.
A newer version was released late last week 1.5.255 for vera 2. It fixed a lot of reliability issues. What exactly was not working. There is still some plugin issues as not all plugins have been updated for UI5. But for the most part mostly everything is working on the current release.
Seconding Garrett here… S-F, to save us having to extract one fact from you per post, can you give us the background information in one lump? Exact details are much more useful than “not much else works properly”.
What version are you now on? What is working as expected? What is not working? How is it not working? Is it reproducible every time, or only sometimes?
Well two main things were not working in UI 5 that made it a deal breaker. The first was that I had my Schlage lock set to send notifications upon the entry of certain PIN codes and to turn some lights on if it were after sunset. It stopped respecting two variables which were to not run the scene if any of the lights were already on or if it were daytime. It also stopped sending me notifications. The second was wakeupramp stopped working. I went back to UI4 1.1.1362 and wakeupramp works again but now nothing works with the lock. The lock issues are 100% reproducible. I also have been experimenting with scenes to control thermostat setback which are all crazy but I haven’t conducted enough experiments yet to know why. Other than that the only things that don’t work are things that never worked.
Thanks for the link to reset Vera. Don’t I also un pair or reset all of my devices also?
The notifications and triggers for scenes should be working in the latest build. There was also a bug that would not allow for some lua commands to work, e.g. get values from devices and so forth. This also has been fixed. I can not answer for the wakeupramp.
I’ll know if wakeupramp works on UI5 tomorrow when it is due to turn my bedside lamp on. I’ll let the forum know.
So it looks like the lock is now the big problem. They don’t have these locks in my country, but if I can parrot what I’ve read, you have to do some extra step to unpair a secure Z-Wave device, because doing a system upgrade/downgrade wipes the crypto key from the Vera. Or something like that. If you haven’t done that then I’m assuming there is a way to factory-reset the lock so that you can re-pair it with the Vera. Check out the lock-specific forum and/or your lock’s documentation for what to do. Going back to UI5 won’t fix this, so I recommend resolving it while you are still on UI4.
Futzle, did you just switch to UI5? As soon as I made the switch wakeupramp stopped working.
I just un paired and paired the lock and now the lights come one but with no regard to time of day or existing light levels. So it looks like I’m back where I was with UI 5 in that respect.
I tried a factory reset and this POS is now a brick!
I’m getting really pissed off here!
I can’t connect to Vera in any way. I have tried a factory reset again by pressing the button on the back twice in quick succession and still I get nothing.
WTF do I do now!?
EDIT:
Forget it. It started working again. This thing is not so robust.
Now to see if everything works again.
