SQRemote + UI5

Have you updated the SQ remote app from app store?

Is it available from apps.mios.com? I can’t find it there. And it’s not working for me in UI5 any more, does it for you?

Mine has also been trying to download plugin 188. I’ve no idea what this plugin used to be for but it used to automatically install itself in later versions UI4 if SQremote was used.

I’ve attached a screen cap of it from my deprecated V1. It doesn’t seem to have any device files though…
There was a time when @MCV had a registration plan/outline published on the Wiki that all Control Point owners were expected to implement. I believe it revolved around use of a [approved] MiOS store Plugin per Control Point.

Looks like it’s loosely covered in this:
http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Luup_Secure_Plugins

From what I’ve ever seen, it was only implemented by SquareConnect for their SQRemote product.

But that’s history… So for whatever reason, it seems like this “feature” needs to be repaired and made to work correctly to avoid the errors going on.

Is anyone getting any response back from MCV on compatibility issues with 1.5.255 and Sq remote?

AFAIK SQ Remote is compatible with UI5. What issues are you experiencing?

Absolutely not compatible is my experience. SQ Remote is not able to reliably connect or get any useful information from my Vera with UI5.
I have submittet tickets twice to SQ, no response. None to MCV.

Interesting. I’m using it right this second on UI5 and it’s working perfectly.

I resat my Vera2/UI5 to factory defaults, and SQ Remote seemed to work fine. I then rebuilt everything as it was manually, and at some point along the way it stopped working again. “The unit MiOS-xxxxxx returned no data” is the error I get.
It sometimes seemingly connects (but returns no information about my environment), but most of the time says “disconnected”. And of course, completely useless.

Here is the thread:
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,8900.0.html

Reported at the SQ forum too, no response.

@Thorden,

I would like to suggest you try increasing the timeout for the Mios/vera unit in SQRemote… go to "setup->Mios Systems and Devices->Edit MiOS Unit Settings->Timeout.

Increasing this to 30 seconds often resolves many of these types of problems.

Mat

Hi Mat,

Thanks for responding!

Tried playing with timeout, no success. SQ support is on the case now, let’s hope they can find out what’s going on.

@Thorden,

Sorry to everyone for the radio silence on support tickets last week. We were at CES and where we were staying had very unreliable internet… during the day we were totally overwhelmed with questions and demos.

We are trying to get on top of any tickets we missed.

Ok, call me crazy, but I can’t find much info on UI5 and SQ Blaster. And it’s been many many months since I got my blaster.

My upgrade to UI5 went south. I wiped everything last night and started over.

SQRemoteHD connects to Vera and that works.

Does the plugin (SQBlaster) still work in UI5? I don’t want to risk trying if it’s known to break things.

I miss having my scenes to control my AV gear! ???

Works for me!

I looked over the differences between the UI4 version of the Plugin, and the UI5 variant that @mcvflorin derived and put into [tt]apps.mios.com[/tt]. There’s nothing of any significance, so it should work just fine (barring the other problems you’re having with the UI5 IR/Remote picker UI from the other thread of course)

@guessed,

What is the names of the new one for UI5 in apps.mios.com? I didn’t find one.

This thread is kind of a mess. One never knows if people talk about the “SQ Remote App” or the “SQ Blaster Plugin”.

SQ Remote App: iOS App to control SQ Blaster as well as Vera.
SQ Remote Plugin: A plugin which was automatically installed on UI4 when using the above SQ Remote App.
SQ Balster Plugin: Plugin to send commands to the SQ Blaster from Vera.

I don’t think the SQ Blaster Plugin is available at apps.mios.com. Only a Beta.

Is this the version of the SQ Blaster Plugin which is supposed to run on UI5?
http://code.mios.com/trac/mios_sqblaster/browser/tags/0.2-UI5-merge

I get the following errors in the log:

Do I also have to install the SQBlasterController files?

@chixxi,
I understood what they were asking for… :wink:

I don't think the SQ Blaster Plugin is available at apps.mios.com. Only a Beta.
Yes, it is. The SQBlaster Plugin is in apps.mios.com: http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=1248

It’s the SQRemote Plugin, which isn’t really needed, which is missing, it’s #188. This has been outlined in the earlier parts of this discussion.

Is this the version of the SQ Blaster Plugin which is supposed to tun on UI5? http://code.mios.com/trac/mios_sqblaster/browser/tags/0.2-UI5-merge
Under UI5, you can just use the version of apps.mios.com. There's no need to be using the source versions, unless you want to test bleading edge versions or whatever.

In the case of ALL of the UI5 Plugins, the MiOS team made “modifications” to the stuff in source control, and then published it into apps.mios.com.

These mods were:
a) Never designed to be compatible with BOTH UI4 and UI5
b) Never put back into source control
c) Not fully disclosed until after UI5 was released to the public

Slowly, as time permits, folks have been “fixing” these issues, and labelling them to indicate that the changes are done. In time, we also grab ownership of the apps.mios.com space, and “update” these to reflected these UI4/UI5 merged versions. Of course, there’s no rule to say that any codebase must support UI4 and UI5, but it’ll wholly be a PITA to maintain two codebases of each plugin due to the mods that UI5 introduced.

For the SQBlaster Plugin, the changes were minor so I haven’t done this last step (yet…). It’ll happen, but I have a long list of plugins, and a lot of work to get them all “fixed” correctly. That said, what’s in apps.mios.com is fine for UI5, and the SQBlaster Plugin.

Do I also have to install the SQBlasterController files?
Not really. That was a "super" version of the SQBlaster Plugin. You could feed it the SQRemote configuration XML files, and it would:

a) Build corresponding [tt]D_xxxx.xml[/tt] and [tt]I_xxxx.xml[/tt] for each [tt]dev_xxxx.xml[/tt] file from SQRemote
b) Instantiate MiOS devices for (a)
c) Register a SQBlaster Device under MiOS for each SQBlaster from SQRemote (for folks like me with more than one in their houses)
d) Wire each (b) to it’s correct (c)

This was a prototype, but I hit WAY too many problems in the MiOS stack that I couldn’t work around, so it never got published. It would have made it trivially easy to use setup’s directly from SQRemote to drive MiOS, but… well you know how that goes…

I don’t think the SQ Blaster Plugin is available at apps.mios.com. Only a Beta.

Yes, it is. The SQBlaster Plugin is in apps.mios.com:
MiOS Apps

Odd…when searching for it within UI5, in the Apps → Install Apps tab, I could not find it.

@PurdueGuy,
Definitely odd. I technically don’t own the plugin yet, since it’s still in @mcvflorin’s control until I request ownership. I can’t see any obvious reason it wouldn’t show up in the Catalog, esp since I can see/find it under apps.mios.com directly.

@guessed: I know you understand, I would never even think about correcting you, I just don’t have the same vera-knowledge-level. :wink: It was thought for other users.

This seems to be a problem with the versions. That is why I said there’s only a beta available at apps.mios.com.

If I try to install it i get the following info in the luup log:

08 01/25/12 9:18:06.615 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest device: 0 service: urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1 action: CreatePlugin <0x8811> 08 01/25/12 9:18:06.616 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1 <0x8811> 08 01/25/12 9:18:06.617 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument action=CreatePlugin <0x8811> 08 01/25/12 9:18:06.617 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument PluginNum=1248 <0x8811> 08 01/25/12 9:18:06.618 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument Version=0 <0x8811> 01 01/25/12 9:18:08.146 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::DownloadPlugin 1248 failed to convert error -4: ERROR: no version relased for this plugin __LEAK__ this:-53248 start:380928 to 0xb01000 <0x8811>

I think this basically means that even though the files have been uploaded to apps.mios.com, no version has yet been created/published. On apps.mios.com it’s also not showing when you just browse the apps, you have to use the search function to find it. Using “View Plugin Details” on apps.mios.com you can see that there are two versions available, but I still don’t know if they were published (see screenshot).

And it looks like the old no more used plugin is still available: MiOS Apps

I didn’t publish the SQBlaster plugin. The fact that you could find it by searching it is a bug. I don’t remember why I chose not to publish it, but I assume I had a good reason. :slight_smile:
