Nubee here. I am wanting to start experimenting with AV system control from my new Vera Lite. I have some basic stuff working already such as zwave deadbolt and a few zwave controlled lights.
I thought I read the SQ Blaster was a preferred IR device to pair up with Vera but it looks like that company maybe closed down? Amazon has zero stock and trolling around with Google seemed to paint a picture they are defunct.
So just wondering if someone here is a little closer to the action to know and if they are goners what is/are another option(s) to bring IR control to Vera lite?
I am fairly familiar with ir control having played around with programming UEI remotes 8-10 years ago via JP1. So I know what discreet codes are and pronto codes. I am not a UNIX or C, C+ programmer though so looking for something that is fairly easy to pick up.
So then why can I not purchase your product through your website? Every time I have looked to buy it, all I see is an accessory and not the main unit. I bought an Global Cache unit because I didn’t want to buy an item that didn’t have a company still around. I also posted a similar thread and never received any response back, which doubly made me doubt that your company was still around. I am delighted to see you guys are around and also disappointed that I didn’t know that I could be confident in purchasing your product.
How do I buy a unit then? When you click through to Amazon it won’t even let you get to the product. I think it would be better to show the product as out of stock and/or backordered than simply gone.
To be precise its says “We’re sorry there are no items available in the Controllers category.” This implies the items don’t exist, not that they are temporarily out of stock. I wonder how many orders you are losing?
Since we are chatting a quick question on your SQ Designer License. If I design a IR user interface for an iPAD and/or iPhone do I need to buy a run time license for every device I want to run that “app” on or is the license for the creation tools only and there is not per unit runtime fee?
Last question do you support android OS as well as iOS?
Bumping this because the SQ Blaster product page is still essentially blank. Maybe there are answers elsewhere, but this is the first thread I found on the topic.
If you have a look on their facebook page, a few days ago they said they are busy with other projects and cannot respond to every request. They are saying that the blaster alone is not enough to keep the company going and they have something else they are working on which is taking up their time, and that they arte a small company.
I should have probably copied and pasted their comment but have not got facebook access here (and not sure if that would be permissible without their consent)
So, they are still going (luckily as its a great product) but unfortunately seems a little on the back burner at the moment
Thanks Mikee123. Here is the quote from John Millard of Square Connect:
“Once again it seems that people are asking what is happening with Square Connect. It warms us to know that there are those of you out there that care! The short, simple and truthful answer is that we are a very small company and are heads down on our new technology, working all hours available on getting a new product out. The blaster as it stands is not sufficiently popular for us to build a sustainable business, so we are working 150% on trying to achieve sustainability with a new product launch. We don’t have the manpower to keep everyone updated, so many many apologies if the lack of news is frustrating.”
