Sonos control app / firmware releases

Sonos released today the version 4.0.

First I have done few tests and our Vera plugin is still working 8) ;D

This new version had few interesting things:

  • a search function => it was really a lack
  • a widget for Android => cool
  • new container for favorites at the main level => not yet tested

A new version 4.1 has been released.

Unfortunately, this new version seems to have broken the Tunein radio management done by our plugin.
When trying to play a radio (through the plugin), we now get a 402 error.
I will investiguate.

I have found the explanation: a station title is now required in the metadata.

Sorry for that, but I cannot publish a fix immediately because my own version of the plugin is not fully stable (work in progress) as it uses the new UPnP proxy and I have not totally finish this enhancement which is a major enhancement of the plugin. I will disable the use of the proxy stuff in my code as soon as possible in order to be able to commit the fix.

Thanks for the update.

yes thanks, take your time. Don’t stress.

Thanks for the update. Will wait for your fix, thanks!

I have now committed my code, the TuneIn problem is fixed.

Sonos has released a new version this week: version 4.2.

Good news: I have the feeling that starting playback is faster than before. You can notice that for TuneIn radio or even for our TTS plugin feature.

Bad news: it seems that this new version has broken the playback of Sonos playlists by the plugin. I will investiguate.

Love your work. 8)

We get UPnP error code 714 when calling SetAVTransportURI which means: “The specified resource has a MIME-type which is not supported by the AVTransport service.”

Quicker TTS would be great! I’ll have to install and try it out soon… good work lolodomo!

I don’t know what they have done, maybe simply reduced the buffering size. It probably applies to everything, including Web radio playback (TTS is like a Web radio).

I have now fixed this problem.

I will prepare a beta 2 version…

Version 5.0 is now released.

Compatibility with the Vera plugin looks good. A lua reload is required after the Sonos update.

The only problem I discovered during my quick tests is the display of the album art for the Amazon Cloud Player service that seems to be broken.

Firmware 5.2 has been released. It seems to have partially broken the plugin. In particular, playback resume after TTS is no more working.

Anybody noticed that ?

That’s weird. This evening, everything is ok ! I don"t know what was happening this morning.
I have done several tests of the plugin with Sonos firmware 5.2 and everything finally looks ok.
