As my first attempt to start my house automatisation, I choose an Somfy I/O motor as testing model. After installed realised that to be able to controll it I will have to married Somfy Tahoma Controller wich is not FREE USER open system.
My question is: Do I have to step-down to RTS models in order to be able to control them from VERA LITE? My project include 7 motors and some lighting control.
All this because I have been told that Vera can not talk to Somfy I/O motors, so I stopped further motors order till I have a clear idea of wich path should I take.
Since Somfy IO and RTS are not compatible, from my research anyway, it looks like you’ll have to see if Somfy has an IO interface that can be used. The problem with closed systems is that they always leave you wanting or needing something that cant be included or isn’t offered.
RTS has several options for interfacing to other systems, there is the ZRTSI, the URTSI, and the single channel RTS dry contact interface (the SCRTSDCI…kidding here). There should be something for the IO motors too, I would hope. Here is a dated comparison between IO and Z-Wave, Zigbee, etc…near the end of the document linked below:
