[SOLVED] How to drop 5v to 3.3v

Can anyone point me towards a how to on getting the pro mini output voltage for the wireless card dropped to 3.3v

I have been playing around with 123d circuits but I am not getting far…

@konradwalsh
you can use an external LDO 1117-3.3 module to drop from 5v to 3.3v
or if you familiar with soldering you can solder it by youself, you will need 1117-3.3 and two capacitors

Thanks… Is that how you guys do it?
I am trying to avoid making the units more bulky.
Would I be wrong in thinking that I can put a resistor before feeding the pro-mini 5v… thereby feeding it 3.3v and it can then only output 3.3v? That may be a dumb question!

I foolishly bought the parts for 10 sensors… and bought 10 x pro mini’s without understanding how to do this part.

Would this be a contained unit… Save me soldering that small chip…?

I could just add that in to the mix?

Just search for a socket adapter for nrf24l01. Make sure it matches the number of pins your nrf24 has (8 or 10 pins). Mine all have 8 pins.

this one is fine

thanks guys!

@axill, what about XC6206P332MR in comparison with www.ebay.ie/itm/AMS1117-3-3-DC-DC-Step-Down-Voltage-Regulator-Adapter-Convertor-UK-Seller-/231123447486?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item35d007eebe

which better for the battery driven devices?
