Sold my house and the buyers negotiated to keep my home automation. I have a Vera 3 and just need to know the best way to change the account over to the buyer of my home and remove it from my home.getvera.com account. Hoping I can do this so I don’t have to reprogram all my devices and start from scratch.
If you used a unique email address for home.getvera.com, just give that and the password to the new owner and they can access and change the owner info.
If you did not use a unique email address for home.getvera.com, I suggest to create one. be it gmail.com, outlook.com or what. Then set the email for your home.getvera.com account to that email. Provide email, password for email and password for home.getvera.com for that email to new buyer and they can log in and change ownership info.
If all else fails, new customer can take a picture of the label at the bottom of the vera that has the MAC and serial and send an email to support@getvera.com with that picture attached and request the Vera in question to be re-assigned to them as they are the new home owners.
House just sold yesterday, have 45 days until closing. Is it possible to ask the buyers which email account they want to use and switch it initially right to their account?
Congrats on the house sale!
Out of interest… Did selling the house with Vera fetch any more money? or help sell the house ?
I am interested as I am about to sell my house but am not sure whether to take all the automation out or sell it with the house.

I sold the house for sale by owner. I marketed it as a Smart Home, and when people came through to look at it I had a printed off sheet with all the details on what the Smart Home equipment all included. I also put the cost of that equipment new. The buyers had a realtor with them, and he basically told them to pay full asking price for the house, and then included the automation package on top of the asking price, so I got over asking price for everything. So yes, I think it definitely helped me!

That sounds like a really good idea having a print off. I am also selling the house for sale by owner so I hope for the same result.

Good Luck with your sale!
I’m still somewhat confused on the best way to switch over the account attached to my Vera controller though…Anyone else have any directions for me?
I noticed after I enter in my credentials…when it loads the page to Connect to your controller, there is an option to ‘Unassign’…maybe this is what I need to do to remove the Vera 3 from my account and then get it assigned to the new account that we will set up?

If you unassign your account that would leave the unit connected to no one’s account but you will still be able to access the Vera locally (via ip address).
It should keep all settings and scenes etc… only thing id say would be affected is Notifications as your account will be removed.
If the new owners then make an account you will be able to assign the unit to there account and that should be all you have to do.
If you also have any plugins that are against your email (such as PLEG) you may also want to remove those.
My idea would be to remove all automation and just leave all devices and basic scenes and once they have connected to it themselves they can create there own scenes.

Thank you! Yes, that is my plan to simplify the system, removing my PLEG devices, and some of my scenes. I will unpair any devices I plan on taking with me.
