SMS over 3G USB on Vera

Hello all,

I read that (never tested it yet) i can plug in a 3G usb modem into my vera and vera can use this 3G USB dongle to connect to the internet
I am thinking If i can use this 3G to SMS notifications. Since it is a SIM after all and is connected to the GSM network

What do you think?

If you have any ideas from where to start , please just guide me

With appropriate documentation for the specific USB 3G modem, it’s possible to write a driver to send SMS… And to receive also.

It’s a bunch of work, and you really need detailed docs for the device… Mostly because there are variations in the AT commands used, ESP the ones use to enable Inbound SMS notification (instead of having to poll the device)
