I recently bought 4 smoke sensors (Flamingo FA21RF type kd101). I managed to get them into my Vera 3 (UI5) via the RFXcom plugin. What wonders me: I get 3 new devices per smoke sensor:
One is with icon of smoke sensor. On this one I only see two options: arm and bypass.
Second is called a RFX remote with icon of a lock. On this one I have 4 options: arm away, arm home, disarm and panic.
Third one is called RFX light with the well known light icon. with off course two buttons OFF and ON.
When I test/trip the smoke sensor the smoke sensor at the first device turns red (so I can see it is tripped). After approx. 30 seconds it is automatically reset to not tripped (I have read in this forum this is programmed this way). On the second device when I push the panic button the siren of the smoke sensor goes for 3-4 seconds and then stops. So I can use this sensor also for other alerts/warning signals.
BUT: what about the third device… I really have no clue why this is created and what it’s meant for ?? When I push on the OFF or ON button nothing happens.
And what is the meaning of the arm away/arm home/disarm buttons on the second (and first) device ? I guess you Always want a smoke sensor to be armed?

The origin of the third device, a light switch, is simply a bug that is now corrected since few weeks. But not included in beta 3 version. You can use the version in trunk (the coming version 1.0).
The RFX remote device is a more generic device that is used for X10 alarms too. As you discovered, its interest in your context (smoke sensor) is only the button “panic”. I have not created a specific device for smoke sensors with only a panic button.
