I’m looking for the most cost effective door / window sensor, and hopefully one that is smaller than the rest. I’ve searched and looked all over amazon but some don’t list a size, or some I’m not sure how well they perform.
Well you could get any Z-Wave door/window sensor and wire some additional reed contacts to it. With this you can monitor mutiple doors/windows with just one sensor. But if one window is open, the sensor tripps. No way to know which door/window is open. Reed COntacts are quite small, but you need to wire them to the Z-Wave sensor.

Or you get some very cheap LightWaveRF Door/Window Sensors (15 EUR) (they are wireless), but the you will need a LightwaveRF<-> Vera Bridge Device which is around 90 EUR.

I have the Everspring, and even with it the magnet portion of the sensor won’t fit between the door trim and frame w/o cutting back the trim a bit. It’s also one of the cheaper and has a “long life” coin-type battery. I put long life in quotes because after one day the battery reading dropped down to 90% and after a week I’m at 80%. So far the actual sensing function has been reliable
There is also the kind that mounts in the door jam, but that requires drilling. I’m not ready for that level of commitment. E.g.,

Yeah, but it’s thanks to the weak dollar. It takes $1.38 to buy a euro. Feel better? 
What are you planning on using it for? If it’s for an actual Door, you can go with the AeoTec one that is completely hidden when it’s installed. I plan on putting these on all my interior doors.
It says it’s not available on amazon and they don’t know if or when it will be in stock. I’m confused by this sense it’s actually a new product from aeon labs released in the past few months or so. I’m guessing you could find it somewhere else.

I personally use the Aeon Labs Z-Wave Door & Window Sensors. I have 15 of them and they’ve all worked flawlessly so far. They are a bit pricey but I bought 10 in bulk off of eBay for around $30 each. The half of the sensor containing the batteries is a bit wide but I’ve had no issues fitting these on windows where I had just enough room to spare to get both halves where I needed them to be. My only issues with these sensors is that, as with most z-wave battery devices, the battery life isn’t accurately reported to Vera and their included “tamper switches” don’t work (report) to Vera if they’re tripped, supposedly because Vera is missing a necessary “command class” to send these alerts. As far as battery life even on the doors I have these installed on which are opened/closed everyday I’ve used these sensors for well over a year and a half on the same CR123 batteries without needing to replace them. They report open/closed status changes instantaneously and make excellent triggers for scenes (triggering alarms/lights, etc).
What do you guys think of the Philio Window/Door multisensor PSM01? In theory, they seem like a good combination door/window sensor with motion sensor, it could help with the scenes without spending additional money on sensors, but how well dot hey actually work?

I don’t think the Philio Window/Door multisensor PSM01 are motion. Everything I’ve found so far says they are door, light, and temp. Still not bad. I’m guessing the part that looks like a motion sensor is really a light sensor.

It is a great sensor, but a bit more expensive than others.
We are switching over to the Ecolink door sensor soon. Does the same thing for quite a bit less $$'s.
