I’ve set up a direct scene to put my house in home mode and notify when I get home. This is in addition to our normal Reactor / iPhone plugin (belt and braces)
Will monitor this week.

So far two for two. Prompt as well

I hope it is something to do with all your scenes being visible on the IOS shortcuts. At present there are only 30 that show up, and the 30 that do show up are not following any order that I can see.
The ordering is odd. I only had 18. Even though I added an 19th, I suspect there’s a naming issue where:
Make it home
and
Make it away
Were being confused somehow. Despite Make it away being visible as a scene in the Vera app, it was not visible in the shortcut.
Renaming it to MakeAway and all is good.
I’d love to think we’ve got the holy grail here. Actual, working, geofencing, but it’s a bit early to tell
C
The reason you see only 30 scenes is Apple limiting it like this. Having more than 30 beats the purpose of a shortcut.
What can be done is having a screen allowing you to select the 30 scenes that will be suggested to Siri.
We are exploring more options to go around that issue. An update with extended Siri support will be available somewhere in January.
We suggest all the scenes to Siri and she decides what to show you
Oh nasty!
C
Will that update include direct device control? Or will we be getting that earlier because with it we won’t need scenes at all!
I’m probably wrong, but my take is that the limitation of scenes vs devices is in Shortcuts, not the App?
C
Yes what I meant to ask if we can control devices directly it would half the ‘slots’ we’d use for geofencing. No scenes for coming home and separate from leaving, just directly turn the switch on and off through the shortcut app.
Oh totally

Hmmm I was all hopped up to start a new thread on working Geofencing.
Having put some more information around this what I observe:
Geofencing automations trigger perfectly within seconds of crossing the geofence (yay!)
What’s not happening is that the scene is not being run, or if it is being run it’s failing to update the controller.
@adina.porea what can we do to troubleshoot this?
I think it’s safe to assume that this will apply for any scene, given that I can run the scenes manually from both the Vera app and the manual shortcut.
C
I am so for 1/2 for geofencing accuracy. Maybe I just got unlucky. Have noticed the scenes are a bit spotty though.
100% hit rate on notifications that shortcuts is doing its thing…
C
yea its too early for me to say if the geofencing is working 100% for me just yet have only tested it arriving and leaving once
My Sirishortcut that runs the scene that changes home mode when i turn off wakeupalarm in iPhone works everytime…
Also my iphoneloacator works perfectly.
Its so strange that everybody had diffrent results of things.
Can you explain the setup in shortcuts for Geofence so i can test…
/ Mattias
Got to shortcuts > Automation + at the top right > Create personal Automation > Travel then you have arrive / leave etc
So far 100% failure rate of the automated scenes to run in Shortcuts.
C
In the interests of more testing over the next couple of days I’ve renamed the scenes and massively reduced the geofence, so I should transition several times a day, with just a switch being flicked.
…but also it seems that Shortcuts allow Homewave scenes to be selected. Further more it seems to give you the option to flick a switch from on to off, and vice versa, from homewave.
Interesting times…
C
Ok. Have disabled iPhone locator and setup a shortcut action to run scene to change mode… I am at home in About 2 hours so we Will see what happens or not
/ Mattias
From what I’ve read and seen so far with geofence Shortcuts, all it does is pop up a notification which you then have to manually run. It didn’t execute in the background. This morning was my first test of my two geofences.
