Simple wireless irrigation

I haven’t seen this elsewhere so I thought I’d post it up and see what you thought and maybe pick up some neat ideas to progress it.
We just had our gardens re-turfed and I wanted to make sure we looked after it well considering the investment.
I’ve been looking at pop up sprinklers and am due to install a few in the next few weeks.

Wanted a way for Vera to control the watering and also to do it as cheaply as possible.

I started putting together some PLEG and the Weather Underground and Virtual Rain plugins to check for the obvious - freeze / past rainfall / forecast rainfall / patio doors open (means we are outside usually). That part was working nicely (using prowl notifications instead of actual water valves.
Then on to the valves themselves…racked my brains for ages looking for a wireless solution.

In the end I cobbled together these… Stella Z’s with a few extras!
Works brilliantly. However not weatherproof so the next stage is to bring them inside and cut into the cold water feed.

Can you talk more about the adapters you used on the Stella Zs?

Hi, sorry for the wait - I only just revisited this post.

the green adapter is a standard garden hose adapter that just happened to fit the radiator valve perfectly.
The brass part is a tap fitting for garden hoses but not the modern clip in type, it is the type you would have used a screw on fitting for.
The silver part is a standard UK radiator valve fitting…total price ?9.00

Hope that helps.
