I have an old Simon 2 alarm system. I would like to replace it with a Vera. Will the wireless modules I currently have work with Vera? If not, is there a plug-in that would add the ability to talk to the modules?
You wireless modules are not z-wave and will not work. They will only work with your panel as they use a different frequency and protocol developed by the alarm panel company. The only way to get the wireless sensors of any alarm panel is to have a plugin that can communicate with the alarm panel. The alarm panel must of some sort of interface that allows for 3rd party interaction (e.g. DSC, PowerMax, etc). It is most likely that your existing alarm panel will not be able to integrate with Vera.
