Not sure if this is the real image:

Because there are also different images available:

Any idea if it supports floating point? The first gen didn’t, which was a bummer for Squeezebox community - no transcoding.

I’m a bit concerned with its likely higher price point - it’s promised to cost more then $100 first get Plug Computer, but remember that at $300 one can get Acer R3610 Revo PC with dual core Atom, which is still more capable, while being small (not as small though) and “green”.
And don’t forget about tiny Fit-PC fit-PC2 & fit-PC2i

Not sure if you are familiar with BeagleBoard and HawkBoard:

http://beagleboard.org/
http://hawkboard.org/

Both have dual-core CPUs - ARM (floating point capable) plus DSP (digital signal processor)

Beagle’s CPU is OMAP3530 - ARM Cortex-A8 @ 600MHz + C64x DSP @ 430MHz + OpenGL ES 2.0 3D
Basically, the same OMAP CPU used in Motorola DROID, Palm Pre, Nokia N900 and many other devices… iPhone 3GS uses a very similar CPU, but not OMAP. BeagleBoard.org - hardware - $150

Hawk’s CPU is OMAPL138 - ARM9 @ 400MHz + C674x (Floating Point) DSP @ 300MHz $80-$90

New Sheeva/Kirkwood based “plug”:

1.2 GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM/Flash
2x Gb Ethernet, 2 x USB 2.0, 1x eSATA @ 3Gb/s SATAII, 1x MicroSD Slot
WiFi b/g, Bluetooth
Draws 5 Watt!
$130

Hackaday fan denix? 8)

Yup ;D

Interesting if it can run pfSense…

Why not m0n0wall? pfSense is a PC-based (x86?) version of m0n0wall…

Either way I’m not that familiar with cross-compiling FreeBSD. Any reason Linux won’t work for your needs? There are plenty of embedded cross-platform distros besides OpenWRT…

Right, I just was looking at pfsense thread somewhere… so be it m0n0wall.
I don’t care what distro used, I just want a powerful router

We have an allready running build for SheevaPlug, but in the future we should be able to release a fully working Linux software, on which you could take full advantace of Ubuntu which is running fine on SheevaPlug.
