setting up vera in west africa

I’m thinking of setting this up in my house back in West Africa.

  1. Does the MiCasaVerde Vera setup and/or app work without a paid account?
  2. How much does it cost to subscribe
  3. Can I pay for subscription overseas?
  4. Who do i contact to be a distributor in Africa

Great product, cant wait to get my first setup done

  1. MCV Vera doesn’t follow a subscription model, so there’s no paid accounts.
  2. see 1
  3. see 1.
  4. I suggest contacting MCV via their website: http://www.micasaverde.com/

You can use Vera in West Africa, but note that Z-Wave uses different radio frequencies depending on country/region: Z-Wave - Wikipedia so if you buy a US Vera you’ll be using the 908 MHz, so you have to make sure that (1) whatever Z-Wave devices you get use the same frequency, (2) your country regulation permits the use of that particular frequency for Z-Wave.

In addition to the last post remember to look at voltage if you are going for another regions e.g 220v

FYI,

I set up a Vera system in mainland China. Bought it through a German site (Zwave4U).

China uses same freq as Europe. It’s all working fine here.

What a circuitous route. A Chinese-made product goes to a German retailer to then be shipped back to the consumer in China.

I would have though that the shipping costs would have made this highly undesirable.

Couldn’t you have gotten it from China on Alibaba or something?
