So I had a VeraLite for about 18 months and everything was great. But then it all of a sudden stopped working. After working with tech support for a few days they determined it was no longer going to work and needed to be replaced with a new $150 VeraEdge! Convenient how that works 6 months after the warranty ends! But I bought it anyway and now cannot get it set up and cannot get tech support to get back to me.
I disconnected the VeraLite. Set up the VeraEdge the same way. Went to getvera.com, clicked on “I have a new controller to set up”, selected VeraEdge from the drop down, and signed in. It said that when I signed in it would add my new controller to my account (and had the correct S/N). But when it logs in my UI5 dashboard looks just like it did with my old VeraLite…it has a yellow box saying “Cannot connect to your unit”. And when I look at my account page there and look at Vera units, only the old VeraLite’s S/N is listed, not the new VeraEdge.
Anyone know what I’m doing wrong or what I should try? My frustration level with this company is at an all time high!
You need a different account for UI7 compared to UI5.
(Actually it can be the same Account Name (if no one has taken it yet) but will have a new password.)
Thanks so much Z-Waver! I now am regIstered in UI7 and see my new VeraEdge. Now is there a way to copy in all my devices that were set up in my old VeraLite or do I have to start all over?
You are best to ask Support to migrate your OLD UI5 configuration to UI7.
Have you backed up your Z-Wave configuration since you added your last device ?
If not … then they may not be able to migrate the entire configuration.
I am pretty sure it was backed up after all my devices were set up and installed…at least I hope so! I think technical support helped me do that when I was having troubles with my VeraLite.
I just tried doing a restore from one of those backups on my desktop, but it only brings back my alarm and no other devices.
You can’t restore a UI5 backup to a Vera Edge. Different UI versions, different Z-Wave chips… Technical support may be able to alter the backup sufficiently enough to apply it to Vera Edge, but I don;t know about this.
If you already did perform a restore of a ui5 backup to a UI7 Edge, then the state of the Edge may be sufficiently bad that you need to re-flash it, before beginning again.
As Richard said, contact support. Tell them about restoring the UI5 backup to the Edge.
I have restored a UI5 backup to my VeraEdge…though not very successfully! I have contacted support but don’t think they can help much. They said I have to go through the exclusion process and then inclusion process for every device…including light switches in the wall!
I’m pretty disillusioned at this point and may just return the VeraEdge and give up on this whole deal. It’ll be a shame because I have so much invested in it. And we really do love the control it offers us when we are away working out of town.
I have to do similar thing, I moved to a different house and need to replace my old veraLite with a VeraEdge, but I notice none of the old light I installed already in the new house are in inclusion mode.
I read that I can go to exclusion mode with the new VeraEdge??? And then add them all again? Is that the right way to do it?
Does the VeraEdge support all the same device the the IU5 did? Intermatic Switch, Trane Thermostat, Yale 220?

THank for your help.[/quote]
Yes the Vera Edge supports all of the same and even a few more than the Veralite did. If you do a restore from your Veralite backup in to your Vera Edge make sure you update all of your old apps. not all of the apps that worked on Veralite will have a working replacement for Veraedge but most all the Apps do . Good Luck with your New Vera Edge
I am now in the process of excluding and then re-including each and every device one at a time. Support confirmed that I MUST do this. It appears I cannot restore a UI5 VeraLite backup to my VeraEdge in UI7.
So far I have been successful at excluding and then re-including 2 light switches, a dimmer, and the thermostat. I am still struggling with the garage door opener and alarm. But those both utilize apps and may require me to get more help!
