So I started setting up my system today and really liked the SMS option for notification. Then I ran into the “notification limits” which says total SMS alerts per day is 2 max. Is that for the entire system or for a particular alert? If it’s for the entire system it is basically useless as you never know how many alerts your system might generate in a day. I started thinking maybe I didn’t understand what these limits actually are. Can someone explain it to me. Thanks,
Your understanding of the limits is correct. It was discussed before on the forum http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,10423.0.html. Instead you can use e-mail or try to find an e-mail to sms gateway for your mobile provider.
There is also other nicer options like vera alerts plugin Vs. Receiving text or emails you can recieve push notifications via an andriod or apple app. No limit and custom over rides or pictures sent with notifications.
Following the idea that SMS was not going to be viable I decided to set up email alerts to my phones SMS email address. Only problem is I can’t “validate” my email address when the message arrives as a text because I’m not getting the 4 digit code. Has anyone found a way around this? If that won’t work I’ll just have to settle for email alerts and have set my phone to recognize the incoming email address (even know there are several) to produce a distinctive alert tone to let me know this is a vera alert. Really don’t want to get into a 3rd party provider. Not using android or ios so push notifications aren’t an option.

Which country are you in? I thought there was some talk on certain country’s not receiving that code and needed to change that temporary to get it setup.
