I’m selling my house and letting my Vera go with it. How do I transfer it to the new owner? I don’t want to give them my user info if I can avoid it, I’d rather they create a new account but then do they HAVE to remove each device and re-add them or can they take over my set up?
I remembered someone answered that you can contact Vera Control and they will update all the information for the new owner. A question:
“How is your new owner like your smart house?” I have spent close to 10K for this expensive hobby but not sure If it will be easier for me to sell my house
If you have a unique user ID (email) and password for Vera you could give them that and show them how to login to the portal and update their user information.
Worst case, create a gmail or outlook email account especially for Vera and set that on the account. Then provide that to the buyer.
I have kept all my original light switches and thermostatic radiator valves to return mine almost to as was. Even if aprospective buyer likes it, they will never pay the full value to enable me to replace the equipment and any buyer worth caller a buyer will end up getting it included in the price. If I decide to sell, it doesn’t get mentioned and is not included in any details.
I do not ever intend to MOVE.
But if I did I would leave all of the Smart stuff in the house.
I would tell them that the Smart stuff is there AS IS!
I can run almost everything in the house without the “Smart Stuff”.
It would be there challenge to Live with it or ignore it.
I believe the PLEG controlling my automation can be read and maintained by some other enthusiast.
If I had any LUA, I am not sure that would be the case.
Also I am not sure the used Smart stuff is worth the time it would take to replace with the old stuff …
The google email account is a good idea, I’ll figure that out.
As far as “to move smart stuff or not”…this is a done deal. I built a new home and had the electrician put all new Leviton z-wave switches in and hard wired all the windows/doors for sensors, as well as run CAT6 everywhere for POE cameras (8 of them). I have a Vera Plus that is a total pain in the pants and works “60% of the time, every time”. Fortunately I have to much going on to stress about it right now.
The old stuff is staying behind ;D
Just make sure you remove the equipment before showing the property and accepting an offer. Mounted cameras, light switches, wall receptacles, in-ceiling speakers etc are considered fixtures and part of the house. On the other hand, controllers, routers, PoE switches, Sonos amplifiers (not rack mounted) are not fixtures and if the buyer wants them it would be on a separate schedule.
I assume it is the same everywhere but this is what I am going through right now in Arizona.
And for automated blinds?
