Secure SWM301 Water Meter Z-wave RF Module

Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with the Secure SWM301 Z-wave Water Meter Module?
I recently purchased one but did not have a great experience with it.

I have written a small review article on the SWM301 here:

If anyone else has used this device I would be interested to know if it worked for you?

Jim

I would like to know also. I need to monitor my water consumption over the internet.

Anybody with info on this?

Hello tzontchev,

Which model water meter have you got?
I found out the SWM301 only works with the Sensus Resida Jet-C water meter range.

You are right it works only with Sensus, but I am willing to put an extra water meter as long as I could do monitoring.

Well if you are willing to change your water meter then I think this is the one for you. You can then monitor the usage remotely with your Vera (and perhaps the ‘DataMine’ data logging plugin).

It has been a long time and I still cannot find a way to monitor my water usage. SWM301 is not something that I like very much. Any suggestions for other way of doing it? Any wifi water usage monitor, or is there anything else on the market? Dos not have to ve Z-wave. Thank you very much in advance.

I too am interested in testing the the SWM301 module after modifying it to work with other brands of water meter’s that provide pulse outputs.

The SWM requires initial setup to Include the device into a Z-Wave Controllers network (Vera) device table and set the SWM’s wakeup and reporting interval (in minutes) amongst other parameters. Hopefull Vera drivers are available for the SWM 301.

At this point I am not worried about battery life since my goal is to adapt the module so it can be detached from the water meter and therefore made more useful here in the US. My first goal will be to change the sensor from the liter wheel and to operate the module in gallons and require changing constants in Vera device drivers if they exist.

I know Saunders ran into problems with the SWM301 and produced an excellent report dated 27 February 2014. My goal is to build on that base and see if some creative DIY mod’s to the SWM.
