ok - not sure if this is at all related, but since I did my last UI7 update (which included Z-wave firmware updates), I’ve noticed my Schlage lock is randomly not responding. I am mean at all. Not keypad or to zwave controls. I have to remove the battery to get it back up and running. I’m going to try a factory reset tonight to see if that does anything, but I’m curious to know if anyone has seen similar issues
Mine have worked perfectly with all UI7 updates, including the most recent one.
If your lock is not responding to its keypad controls the problem is likely with the lock itself, and the fact it started after a recent Vera UI update is likely coincidental.
My Schlage Camelot keypads are both working fine thru my VeraEdge and locally with the keypad. Running 1.7.1419
If they are really old Schlage z-wave locks I have seen this problem, if the signal is being routed through a non-beaming device Schlage’s z-wave protocol seems to fail to specify that is needs a secure beamed route. If you are trying to add/change a pin code it can wipe codes in the lock as it struggles to configure the codes. With the firmware update you have a lot less control over the routing. I don’t know if you can manually set the route like you could with the older firmware.
But if you lock is really old that is likely your problem. I have Schlage z-wave locks that were like v1 locks, that do not have the programmable firmware (normally you can update the firmware on the locks using a Nexia Home Bridge) but the ones prior to the updatable firmware… they are very picky about route because they don’t specify somethings correctly about secure routs… I have them on there own system (with the alarm system) for that reason.
If you don’t want to roll back to the older firmware, you could try getting a Nexia Home Bridge an updating the lock firmware (or calling Schlage about the firmware version), You can get a free trial month on the Nexia Bridge, which is what I did (bought one used used the free menbership, and tried to update the lock firmware… only to find mine where too old for that)
Ugg!
Thanks, guys. I’m pretty sure it is a coincidence - just seemed like a big one. I had the lock for 1.5 years and never an issue until ROUGHLY around when I updated. Anyways, Schlage support seems good and I will walk through it with them to see what happens.
