Schlage electronic locks -- exposed to rain?

I could only find one comment on a reseller site that said ‘no’, but I thought I’d see if anyone had any experience with electronic locks installed where they are likely to get some direct rain.

I have two exterior doors which are not well covered and would be exposed to rain. One is a deck door which is partially shielded by the 2 foot overhang/gutter right above. The other would be more exposed…it is a garage entry on a two story side of the house, so the roof line is 30 feet up…rain would easily hit this.

How would electronic locks hold up here? Anyone have them installed in exposed areas for any length of time?

Thanks.

2+ years with my lock, and it’s directly outside and gets rained on all the time. I’ve got the Schlage deadbolt right after it came out on the market and it’s definitely able to handle rain on the outside keypad.

I have had the Schlage electronic lock style installed on a south facing garage entry door for more than 6 years. Original lock was the non-Z-Wave version and I upgraded to the z-wave variety when they first came on the market. In Ohio, we have plenty of exposure to rain, sleet, ice, snow, etc… and I have had no issues with these locks directly exposed to the elements.

Awesome, thanks!

Wow, I wouldn’t have thought they would hold up to the elements so well- certainly good to hear.
I have two of the Schlage Z-Wave keypad locks now, one of them is permanently behind glass- the other will be behind a classic old style top half screened storm door for the summer. Was thinking to place a small, maybe 6" wide by 8" high piece of plexiglass behind the screen directly in front of the keypad blocking it to direct exposure to driving rain during nor’easter’s??

@Robinnes

It would probably be overkill to try to protect the lock behind the screen. I’d say let it get wet. Mine survive!
