Schlage Deadbolt Zwave Lock - Adding and Removing

Hello! I have been wrestling with my Schlage BE369 lock working here and there for the past couple weeks, and I am losing. I continue to get a “Failed at: Getting Secure Classes error.” I have tried everything I can find in these forums, however there is one procedure that I can’t seem to find. In the Schlage Lock Troubleshooting guide from MiCasaVerde, it gives instructions to change the power level and timeout, which seems to be a Vera 1 item and seems to be no longer applicable. So, I am ignoring that, please correct me if I’m wrong.

The thing I can’t find instructions for is how to exclude the lock. I try to use the trash can to remove the device, and it continues to reappear. I’ve tried to hold the Zwave button on the back of the unit for 3 seconds and release, and 5 seconds and release, but I can’t seem to get Vera 2 in the exclude mode where the Zwave LED flashes 4 times a second. Once I get it in exclude mode, it isn’t clear to me how to help Vera find the lock and exclude it accordingly. The lock has been repeatedly reset using the factory procedure. There are posts instructing the use of a dongle, but as I understand it that applies to Vera 1, and the dongle is integrated inside of Vera 2.

I believe the path to resolution lies in removing the device, but I can’t seem to make that happen. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Resetting the lock does not exclude it from the network, and therefore the ‘trash can’ operation does not work / is being denied.

Exclusion is done the same way as inclusion on the device side, but you choose exclude (remove) instead of include (add) on the controller side. Holding down the button as you did, should work. Another way to do it, is through the Dashboard. That way, you can see what’s going on. You can also change the power level there:

[tt]Add/remove device → Zwave; Next → (at bottom) Exclude; Full power[/tt]

and on the lock:

[tt]PC + Schlage + 0[/tt]

Then try again for include.

(BTW, your understanding about the dongle is correct.)

The Vera 2 controller does not have the remove device option in Dashboard is there another option to remove a Schlage Deadblolt and then adding it back.

Go to your device options by clicking the wrench in the topright corner.

After that click the bin icon top right.

Are you sure you want to delete the lock instead of excluding it?!?

Thanks I will try that to see if I can delete it and then try to add it back.

This Schlage lock if frustrating me, I have everything else working great but this &^%# Schlage lock.
