Schlage Deadbolt & Vera3 Won't Lock

Hi All,

I recently purchased the Schlage deadbolt & a Vera 3. The lock is always showing unlocked. I have read on the wiki how to address this, but the options (305 or New Device Data ID) do not exist. I have tried entering a New Service/New Device/New Value set, but while that does show a 305 set to 1 in the Vera 3 interface, it does nothing to the lock & the lock throws a “Failed at Setting user configuration” error.

Yes, I have updated the Vera to the latest firmware. Yes, I have other devices that operate fine with the Vera. Yes, the batteries are at full power.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Acewrap,

Not sure if this helps. I have several of the Schlage deadbolts and their Zwave door handle unit as well. I bought mine thinking that the deadbolts would lock and unlock via Zwave, they do not. They will however activate, so that you can remotely let someone in (They still need to turn the knob). I’ve been using them for a year with the Link system and they have been a bit flaky for me.

With my Link system i will get a failed command message or it will simply time out sometimes when attepting to activate the deadbolts remotely. I’m preparing to migrate everything over from Link (Nexia) to a Vera 3 soon. Good luck, hope this helps some.

Have you tried an exclude and then re-inlcude for the lock? I have a Schlage deadbolt that shows status just fine. I find that a few of the devices, Schlage devices especially, seem to be a little finicky.

This is just the first thing I would try while looking for another possible solution.

Hi Sven,

I realize the deadbolt is not automatic. The issue is that anyone can just push the Schlage button & turn the bolt from the outside. It doesn’t believe the bolt is thrown.

Hi Mundyb,

I haven’t tried an exclude. I’m considering tossing this one & just going with the Yale deadbolt.

Thanks!

I reported to MCV that my locks won’t update since UI5. They blamed it on physical issues even though the network worked fine for years on UI4. They never resolved and I gave up waiting.

Are you saying that the system never says the deadbold is locked or that it acctually never does lock? There was mention a while back about a part that could be assembled wrong (I believe it was upside down) on that lock causing a condition where you could always open it with the schlage button. If that is the condition you have search the forums for the discussion and fix.

I have only had my vera for a week. I moved from Nexia to vera for better control and expandability. When I setup the locks with Nexia it took several times to get them to program. After every unsuccessful attempt there tech support would have me un-include the lock even though it failed. The other thing I learned was that the schlage lock will say that it has failed the include but, if I kept my Nexia bridge next to the lock for 60seconds or so it would give me a successful include. The lock would show up and worked perfectly. When I moved to vera I removed the lock from my Nexia system and when I put it into program mode the schalge lock failed after about 10 or 15 secs. I kept vera about a foot from the lock for about 60secs. I then was able to see and setup the lock on my new vera system. Hope this helps…
