Schlage BE369 Inclusion on new veralite interface

I’m trying to pair this pesky BE369 with my veralite. I have the newest firmware installed. All the directions I can find say to do full power inclusion and increase the timeout setting, but the instructions are for the old MIOS interface. I cannot find a way to modify those settings on the current interface. I have done a factory reset of the lock.

Additionally, when going to the pair devices section, this lock is not included under the locks section, so I have been using the generic zwave device to attempt a pair.

What do I do??

Hey there,

On the new interface the type of inclusion is always full power and the option has been removed.

The basic process you need to do is to make sure you : 1. Exclude the lock first, 2. Re-include lock again. It’s basically the same process done twice, once for exclusion, second for inclusion.

On the Vera side go to Device->Add devices->Generic Z-wave Device->Click on Next until Step 3 and you see “Add/Remove : Add new devices now…” on the top blue bar.

Now Vera is include mode, but we need to exclude it first, and to do that, click on Retry on the same Wizard, and you should see “Add/Remove : Remove devices now…” → Now go to the lock and do the following: →

Enter your 6-digit programming code
Wait for the device to beep three times
Press the Schlage button
Press 0
The Schlage button will blink three times to confirm

Repeat the steps for inclusion:

On the Vera side go to Device->Add devices->Generic Z-wave Device->Click on Next until Step 3 and you see “Add/Remove : Add new devices now…” on the top blue bar.

Now go to the lock and do the following: →

Enter your 6-digit programming code
Wait for the device to beep three times
Press the Schlage button
Press 0
The Schlage button will blink three times to confirm

NOTE: Make sure you do this process with the lock closer to Vera (10 feet or less direct LoS)

Great info thanks! I will try this tomorrow.

No luck, tried several times. several different ways. Any other advice?

Also did a factory reset.

Note if your Schlage BE369 is very, very old (original V1 firmware or other very early model) they have bugs in the zwave routing that do not like to be routed through any neighbors during inclusion, works fine if you are just starting out, becomes more difficult if you have a large z-wave network. Sit your lock literally on top of the Vera so it is talking directly to the Vera and not to any other near by nodes (maybe even move them both way from near by nodes). I couldn’t get my really old one to work with UI7 because you can’t manually set the route on UI7 and if it routes through an intermediate node it loses its security handshake, originally you could edit the route to tell it to only talk directly to the Vera but that functionality was removed when they updated the z-wave firmware a bout a year 18 months ago.

Also if your lock is on the newer side can you describe a little more what is going on when you say, including “doesn’t work”

It was recently purchased. I don’t know how long it’s been on the shelf. Is that stamped somewhere?

When I say it doesn’t work, I mean the two units seemingly don’t talk to each other what so ever. I had them maybe two feet apart.

I went to step 3, then attempted to un include the lock, put the lock in inclusion mode. No sign anywhere that the two were interfacing. Blue bar said add remove now as it was supposed to, but that’s it.
I then attempted to re include the lock, as instructed. The blue bar said to add devices now. Again put the lock into inclusion mode, with no noticeable interface between the two units once again.

During this time I also attempted a factory reset as instructed, and then began the procedure again. Same results.

Anything else I can provide to help?

What code sequence are you typing on the lock to put it in learn mode?

It should either flash and sound red for a fail or a green for success for our do that after timing out?

shallowearth is right, you should have some feedback from the lock also.

If Vera is in exclude/include mode and not picking up the lock, then it’s either too far / pairing procedure you doing on the lock is wrong / lock does not have the z-wave module in it / lock is defective.

It’s very common for these locks to lack the z-wave module in them as well.
