I have the Alexa app on my cell phone, I can turn on lights, but not able to run any scene. I have scene showing up in the app along with several devices. But when I ask Alexa if it can run any scene, it doesn’t recognize them. Even scenes that I created that only have lights, and no prohibited security devices. It can control these same lights if I ask “Alexa, turn on porch lights”, or “Alexa, turn on entrance lights.”
Then I noticed that when I ask Alexa to list my skills, it doesn’t include Vera Control. Vera Control shows up as existing in my Alexa app on my phone, but not apparently on the Echo itself. I have gone to Login and logged in , and then “Manage Alexa” in the upper right, and checked all the devices and scenes.
I have scenes, and can confirm them working with all Alexas. The real device, the app, and PC. You did discover the scene in Alexa app “Scenes” section right?
Scenes should work with Vera if they do not contain any security enabled devices, in which case you will not be able to even select them in Manage Alexa.
Many of these situations can be assessed by our Customer Care team. So if nothing else works, they can give you a hand. Contact details in my signature.
My scenes and devices suddenly stopped working with Alexa voice commands. I can turn my “desk lamp” on from the iPhone app. But when I ask Alexa to turn it on, she says "I coudn’t find “desk” in my profile.
And when I add new scenes and devices, the app does not find them nor does Alexa does find them, though it remembers some of the older ones—even ones I had deleted from my Vera!
Suggestions for trouble shooting, resetting, etc. are welcome. Everything seems hit or miss.
