Samsung TrickTV and VERA2

I don’t know if anyone of you is familiar with Samsung smart TVs. One of the apps on that TV is called Trick TV. It is advertized as working with ZWave Products.
Basically once installed, this app allows you to control your zwave network from your Samsung Remote control ( a nice overlay screen will show up while you are watching movies)

In CES 2011 ZWAVE booth, you can see clearly Soren Lorentsen, Director of Product Marketing for Sigma Designs, showing Trick TV with a VERA2 installed.

has anyone tried to successfully install this system?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if the app is still available on the Samsung TV app store. MCV regularly shows this interface at CES and did so this year. The Trick TV mobile app still controls Vera I believe (a slightly different look than the Vera mobile app, but same functionality). Alas, I didn’t buy Samsungs, as much as I wanted to have them, this time around so someone else here will have to give it a try.

Everything on the site says “Coming Soon” or “Coming January 2011” so I question whether or not it ever was (or will be) available. Has anyone ever actually seen the extender for sale?

We all own an extender, in owning Vera. Since the app controls Vera, the TrickTV extender would possibly be a rebranded Vera (or VeraLite as it resembles that form factor) with some changes to the UI or functionality to make it a new offering. While the hardware package may or may not come to market the software exisits in the TV and Mobile Apps and they should work with Vera, now to find someone with a modern Samsung TV to test it…

I have a 2010 model smasung with internet@tv supposedly it is supported but I do not see the app any where in the samsung app store.

I have a Samsung SMART TV but there’s no sign of TrickTV in the UK Samsung app store. :frowning:

I added the app to a Samsung BD player a while back (don’t own it anymore). You have to enable a beta appstore to see it; and I’m sorry I cant help with that, as the info of how to do it is long gone along with the BD player; It was somebody here that told me about it originally!

I had a video up along time ago with running it on my Samsung BD but honestly, it was not production ready. I really dont think it ever saw the light of day in the app store.
