Dude (I’m assuming “Dude” isn’t an offensive designation where you are from). It’s a 50% off sale. $300.

Yep, I’m a dude… ;D Thanks for the info guys…

Is there a comparison chart between the Standard and the Pro?

Sorry for all the questions but just to make sure I understand…

I’m going to use an existing i5 machine running windows 7 64bit (same machine that handles BlueIris) and all I will need is the HS Software and this Z-Net Z-Wave device?

There was, but it seems they have whacked that in their recent conversion to a “mobile friendly” site. F’ing Google! Pro has all HST plugins and the HSTouch designer (which allows you to make custom HSTouch projects). There are also some other odds and ends like HSPhone.

I really don’t want to use this thread as a sales pitch for HomeSeer. I encourage anyone who is curious to check out the HS forum. If you aren’t interested enough to do so then by all means please ask me (or any other members who have moved from Vera to HS).

If the only HA technology you use is Z-Wave then, yes.

EDIT:
I was going to insert some (or at least one!) image here so I Googled “balls to the bandsaw” and what did I get?

A flat fish clamped to a table?

WOW, I’m already NOT impressed… This is the message I received after successfully signing up and confirming my account on their forum… and absolutely no reply as too why…

Looks like yet another elitist company…

Dear ServiceXp, Unfortunately your registration at HomeSeer Message Board did not meet our membership requirements. Therefore your registration was deleted. Sorry, HomeSeer Message Board

It took me a few times as well. Just respond to the email and say you are real. I think they’re fighting some bad spam and are being over zealous. I think a “Greg” responded to me.

Do you remember how long it took for “Greg” to respond? I have already e-mailed (replied to the denial e-mail) asking why I’m not worthy… :stuck_out_tongue:

Not long at all. A day at most.

Edit: might be longer since its the weekend

He responded almost immediately to me and then I had a conversation with him about various z-wave products. Asked about the Evolve LCD Control panel thing, he asked a lead developer there and said that they don’t currently support it. I was impressed. I think they are closed on weekends and are on the east coast

Yeah they’re in southern NH and are closed on weekends but Greg is their big forum presence so might respond to forum stuff on weekends.

My Z-Net arrived today (while I still have about 6 days of trial left). I have so far put my utility closet light on HS and it’s inclusion was pretty simple. Granted, Vera’s was never all that hard to do either.

It doesn’t have a signal problem either, but then again, the Z-Net is in said utility closet and the switch is at most 2’ away, so I wouldn’t expect it to. I have a few nodes that give me problems in vera that I may try out next. Setting up the Z-Net was incredibly easy though and I can really see how having these smaller “controllers” would be better than trying to bridge a few Vera’s together. Of course, a Z-Net is about the cost of a Vera Edge, so it’s not like it’s cheaper by any means.

I will state, just for the sake of being fair to MCV, that my Vera has been pretty solid for me. I have had more than a few memory problems and that one sole issue is why I really started to look elsewhere.

The Z-Net looks like a ODroid-C probably an internal Sigma Z-Wave daughter board connected to the serial port.

Vera Should look at something like that as well for LARGE (spatially distributed) installations.

I agree, If they could separate the “controller” from the “z-wave” interface like HS has done, then adding remote systems would be as simple as adding a remote interface. I’m not going to say it would be easy for them, but they could still sell an all in one box with an internal Z-wave interface and offer remote interfaces that worked over Ethernet (exactly how HS does it).

I never tried to bridge a couple of veras, but I read a few threads and it just seemed like a major hassle and sometimes I think people did it just to help with memory issues.

It’s a RPi B+

The C1 has a different set of connectors on the side, since it uses a micro barrel for power, and a smaller HDMI connector.

@guessed
Have folks connected this to OpenHab ?

I am not sure if they have a Software stack on top of the Sigma Z-Wave Serial Protocol.

Not yet, but a Binding for the Z-Net, and also for the Staples Connect (Zonoff), would be very handy… I chatted with the HS lads about the former at CES, but the Zonoff lads wouldn’t let @stangely or me into their suite
