RFX Controller failed to open IO port

Every now and then my RfxCom controller throws up this error message in the UI5 staus window:
“RFXtrx controller device[221] : Failed to open IO Port”

The RFXCom controller then becomes unresponsive. All I can do is restart Vera to get it back. How can I detect this event using LUUP code, so that I can restart it automatically?

I’m looking at interrogating the device, or reading the status window.

I use the RFXCom Gatway plugin and use the RFXcom device to control Dooya electric curtains (via RFX)
