It’s still kind of scary to login through some random site as compared to official Vera relays…

agreed but the actual login is performed by official vera relays anyhow, it just the UI form that sits there, the actual usr/pwd validation is performed by official vera relays
if you are overly concerned you could maybe have a VPN into your home network or there may be other alternative but I am not expert
