Refrigerator & Freezer Sensors

Brand new top-of-the-line Kitchenaid fridge let my frozen food thaw yesterday. No clue why - likely a door not quite closed but closed enough not to trip door sensor.

So I really want to monitor via RFXcom & Vera. But the only really neat 433 mhz device is an AcuRite, which is apparently not supported by RFXCom. I think in a perfect world you want a bottle sensor, but the 433 mhz ones also don’t seem to be RFXCom supported…

Have others monitored their frdige/freezer with success?

The TFA 30.3177, TFA 30.3120.30 or Proove TSS320 can be used:

Install the wired sensor inside the freezer and keep the transmitter outside.

Wilme2,

I use the standard/normal oregon sensors and put these in a plastic closed bag, and is working inside my freezer and fridge.
Use good alkaline or lithium batteries because of the lower temp.
This works very good, (on alkaline in fridge below 20 degrees almost 2 years).

b_weijenberg, I like those well enough, but shipping to the US is probably not feasible.

Egbert, I think I will try your method. If I order two La Crosse TX7Us and they don’t work out for this application, I can always use them elsewhere. I already have four monitoring temps in my pet reptile cages…

I suppose this sensor can be used:

An additional question about these sensors with external probe: do they measure both the temp “outside” and inside the freezer or poop or only inside (external probe) ? Same for humidity (in water it is off course Always 100%

Question, why would you not put a two wire temp probe in and set it up if the temp goes below a value it send you a notification.

I just use a fibaro sensor with the temperature module. Works fine until the fridge. I expect a freezer would be a bit,on the cold side for the battery.
