Not the right forum I know but a little frustrated. Brand new RCS TZ43 thermostat - just installed - not display.
I’ve got power, but nothing going on. Can’t find troubleshooting for RCS products anywhere. Either I’m stupid or they hide it well.
It seems unlikely (although possible) that they would ship a dead unit. Any thoughts on getting this thing working or where RCS might hide their troubleshooting stuff?
Are u sure you have wire it correctly.
DO you have a common wire? Both wires from the Heating /cooling unit’s 24 volts?
no expert - new to these forums but have been playing with z-wave for ~a year.
what i found from installing my first z wave thermostat was that my system only had 4 wires- but i needed the 5th wire (constant 24v) to power the thing. I had to run a whole new cable with the 5th wire back to my furnace and connect the 24v to the transformer for always on power.
OK, was a wiring problem. I had two unused wires. Both had 24vAC. The one I was using didn’t work. They appeared to be tied together somewhere, but who knows. Anyway it’s working now.
BTW, big thumbs up to Jay Venner at Smarthome-products who called my Sunday withing 10 minutes of me sending an email. Sorry to interrupt your football games Jay, but thanks for the help.
I having some odd problems with scenes not working properly. And at times the temp refreshes and shows in C not F (although F displays on vera web page). I’ll do some digging. Surely info on this here somewhere.
Mark - The is a setting on the TZ43 that you select for the F/C.

Temperature in F seems to always display correctly now.
I can individually set heat and cool temp now from dashboard (enter temp and press “set”)
I can set cool temp via scenes, but the heat temp does not change. The slider graphic on the dashhboard shows red and the heat temp does not change.

I get that “Superceded” message too with my Trane Thermostat. I reported a bug, and I am hoping to see resolution in the next release. In the mean time, I just split the scene into too scenes, one to set the heat and one to set the cool.
Summary:
The RCS TZ43 works well (except for the new bug that won’t allow both heat and cool settings to change during the same scene)
System: Gas 2 stage heat and 2 stage cool
Settings on the TZ43:
Scheduling off
Mode: Auto (this is adjustable with Vera using default settings)
Schedule Mode: Hold Mode
As mentioned in other posts if you don’t need the remote sensors then get the OEM versions by Trane or others.
