Proper way to remove a z-wave device?

Simple question. I’ve used the trash can button and it seems to work. There’s wiki page…

…that mentions using the black button on vera to remove a device.

What’s the proper way to delete/remove a device?

You have used the correct way to delete a single device.

If you ever wanted to completely wipe your Vera and “build it from scratch” the wiki page you pointed to would be the appropriate way!

Depends on whether the device is still part of the Z-Wave network. (And assuming it is a Z-Wave device.)

If it was properly included and functional, then you would have to exclude it, to remove it from the network. It will delete the NodeID in the device and delete the device from Vera.

If however you did some sort of reset locally on the device, then you can use the trash can to make Vera forget about the device. If the device is still part of the Z-Wave network though, it will show back up.
