Problem Pairing GE/Jasco Lamp Module w/Dimmer 45602

I have what I guess are somewhat older GE/Jasco Lamp Module w/Dimmer 45602. When I select the Zwave button on the front of my Vera3 then I plugin and push the button on the Lamp module nothing happens. The frequency of the light does not change and it doesn’t show up in Vera desktop app.

I checked the GE manual and I didn’t see any sequence of button presses to get the device in pairing mode and I didn’t see any lights or feedback. I have three of these devices and I tried to pair each of them.

Im kind of new to this so im sure I missed something. Thanks.

Did you try excluding them first, the including them?

If that doesn’t work, try to exclude and include with a quick double-tap of the button.

Adding to @PurdueGuy’s instructions…

Make sure that the module is plugged in for at least 30 seconds or more before trying an exclude/include operation. It sounds like you are trying to plug it in and immediately include it, but it needs a little boot up time before it is operational.

There is no button sequence for “pairing”(exclude/include). Place your controller(Vera) in the desired mode(exclude or include) then press and release the button on the dimmer module.

Thanks for the tips. I will try those steps.

I tried including/excluding by selecting the button twice but that did not work. I was reading that once a module has been added to a controller it has to be removed from that controllers software. The problem I am having is these modules used to be part of a adt pulse system and I don’t have access to that old system to remove the modules. Is there no way to reset the devices?

Any controller can exclude a device, even if it was included on a different controller.

The GE documentation says the device will reset when excluded from the network.
What is the distance between Vera and the device? Can you have them right next to each other?

Instead of pressing the button the Vera unit, try:
Devices tab → Add Devices → Click “Add” next to “Advanced Z-Wave devices” (bottom of list)
Under “Any type of Z-Wave device which you can bring close to Vera” select:
“Exclude” “one” nodes of type “any” with “full power” and timeout after “30”
Then hit “GO”
The top of the Vera dashboard “blue area” should change to say “Add/Remove…”
Then click the button on the module.
The dashboard should say something like “Excluded unknown node”
Wait for Vera to become ready again (20-30 seconds)
Repeat the procedure but change “Exclude” to “Include”
Hopefully once Vera comes back you have a new device in the “no room” area.

Purdue you are my hero! Your solution worked! Saved me from selling these things on eBay. Thanks

Any idea on how to run this exclude procedure in UI7? I can not add a schlage rp200 version of this dimmer. (keeping with old post to update knowledge base for UI7)

Paul I had same problem with a Schlage RP200 dimmer. In UI7 on a vera edge once the add sequence times out, click Retry. The controller goes to exclude mode. I pushed the button once and the controller indicated the device was removed. I clcked next to go back to inclusion mode… then a single press of the button on the RP200 and it added it. Hope that helps.

Thanks; will try tonight. First need to get the dust off of it

No dice; Gonna open a support ticket

I just registered on this forum to ask if you can pair a dimmer wall switch to a dimming lamp module. i currently have two dimming modules connected to a on/off switch that controls an outlet that has nothing plugged into it, then i created a scene that will turn the lamp modules on when the switch is turned on. Is there a cleaner way to set that up?

For the record, the Schlage which in my case is a rebranded 45602 Jasco/GE requires two pressed of the button to go into include/exclude mode. A single press won’t do it.

Thanks. Mine is Schalge as well. On UI7 (1.7.619). I tried the push twice, no dice. I also looked that the log; and it looks like it is not even trying to pair it.

Were you able to get this unit paired?

After several tries, I finally have it paired. Single pushes, double pushes didn’t seem to do anything. Finally a reboot of my Vera Edge, a Single push during pairing, then a Retry with a single push again gave me a message that the device was being added. I had tried with double pushes, which didn’t work. The screen continued to count down with no success message. I exit the screen and 2 minutes later the device showed up.

I had given up. Just tried again given the above success. No success. What UI are you on? I’m on UI7 (1.7.619)
