I have managed to install the alpha 9 version of the plugind, and it seems to be working, having created and found lots of my Oregon sensors. I am now trying to create x10 devices from the RFXtrx controller device, device creation. X10 is enables in settings, and the create x10 device is light blue. Above it is a box where i can enter something, i have tried entering the house code there, and just above add ac switch is a box where i have entered the unit code. when i now press the button create x10 device, i get an error unexpectd value for first argument, must me string A-P. I have tried entering house and unit code together and lots of other combinations, but i always get that error. Probably just a small mistake on my side. Could someone enlightn me please ? I have had this only for a few days so trying to find my way round this system…
You encounter the famous ui bug relative to a bug in firmware 1.5.408. One field is not displayed and so of course you cannot enter its value !
I am waiting for a firmware fix since almost 8 months now !
One solution is to return to firmware 1.5.346.
I previously did a work around and modified the JSON to enable someone to create x10 devices see.

That worked for me, thanks very much ! Although sometimes the device created has no on/off switch, not sure yet what to do about that. Need to play around with it a bit more, maybe delete and redo the devices
I have created 3 x10 devices, 2 are ok and working, the 3rd has no on off buttons. (i have created 3 identical devices only difference being the unit code, they are all on the same house code). I have tried creating the one without buttons again, but nothing happens, not even an error message. When i try to delete, i get the message : message from webpage: received empty response, and the device is not being deleted
logging in and out of the system seems to have solved that problem too… 
I would suggest that you were encountering a bit of delay in either your Vera updating (it was still processing changes) or that your browser cache was a little slow in refreshing, either way, it is good that you have resolved your issue.
After creation of a device, it is often required to reload the web browser.
Not something specific to this plugin.
If the patch properly corrects the ui bug, i will consider it.
No, it does not completely negate the UI bug. :-
It is still present but workable.
I just did some small changes the physical layout because the fix were nowhere on the horizon and to enable the user to “work around” that limitation. The bug as you know is problematic and present in a number of device interfaces and even with the last private beta it was still not rectified and continues to be carried forward.
As a beta tester, can you push for a fix.
As MCV is not reading the forum, I am not sure they feel the need for such a fix.
To fix the bug, I could merge the two tabs in one unique tab. Not too much work, probably less than 30 minutes to adjust all the field positions. But you will have a very big scrollbar in the tab !
Other solution is to switch to a javascript tab but this solution is probably several hours of work, and I don’t have the courage to do it just due to a firmware bug !
As far as I remember - It has been highlighted constantly by@guessed and @chixxi but I think you are correct, it just isn’t a priority. That is one of the issues with Mantis is it just does not provide enough visibility to establish if they are actually going to work on this. Also, if they are developing a new UI which was indicated in CES 2013 stories for the upcoming products, they may have ceased rectification of the current UI problems. This occurred with UI5 to UI5 and history sometime does repeat. I will check tonight when I get home.
Having to rework an app as a result of a bug introduced is not a good situation and most would stop future development because of future is unknown. I suppose if we could determine the total affected apps, it may give some additional focus to them but I am not confident that that is the case.
Ok, I have now modified the UI and I am releasing the new version alpha 10.
